I do something like this with my annual container gardens. Fill half way with leaves and woody debris and cap with fertile soil. At the end of the season it wither gets dumbed into the inground gardens or consolidated into raised beds. Gets that composting process started and is still productive.

yes...i do that too technique in my raised beds but it gets to stay there.

That was a lot of work! Well done. We also have had only one rain event and really only one 'real' snowfall all winter too here in Reno. However , the cuttings I got from you are all doing great in the greenhouse. Will not trust them outside until end of May. They are beautiful!
