More tone, less noise! What's your favorite humbucking pickup? 💥

Can you make a video lesson on how a humbucker Dummy Coil works to cancel out the HUM and guitar pickup noises. In old microphones they use a Humbucker Dummy Coil to cancel out the HUM but how does it work in theory?

The Gibson 1957 Classic Humbucker! Ask Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Chet Atkins, Roy Clark,and George Benson. I do have a question......I was told by a guitar tech here in Vegas (who works for another retailer I shall not mention) that the "wide" pickups like the Custom 57 are "warmer" because the magnets are larger creating the sound preferred by Jazz and R&B players. Is this true? I noticed that The Ibanez GB10's neck pickup manages to get a warm sound just like the "Charlie Christian" pickup even though they are smaller in size. Was this guy pulling my leg,or are the larger humbuckers actually better for that "warm" sound?

Idk if this dude is in charge of Sweetwater or anything but if he is, thanks for keeping the guitar company I work for going. We had a few questionable years, but sweetwater gave us a chance and now we are absolutely swamped with orders from them. I try to make every guitar for them perfect, as a way to repay the favor. Thank you Sweetwater!

Great crisp summary of the physics of out-of-phase and in-phase superposition of electrical signals, and the history of patents. Thanks ! Jerry (physicist-guitarist)

Wow, so a humbucker is basically the balanced cable of guitar pickups

I like how pickup technology has not changed one bit since the beginning. Even today, it is STILL just wire wrapped around coils, the same as it was in the beginning.

Why is the guitar signal not cancelled out but the hum is?
@Dickelul2 жыл бұрын
I'm not quitte shure, but I guess both coils produce the same sound, with each diverent hum. Only when both signals are the same, we would have the sound we desired. My guess is, the hum will be OUT of fase and therefore stubb eachother out. (Because of the reversed polarity of the magnets AND the reversed windings, the sound will be IN fase!) Somebody please correct me, if I'm wrong?

I recently purchased a Epiphone 50’s Les Paul and honestly I can’t imagine needing a $5,000 Custom Shop to play in my living room but I would like to replace the bridge pickup and I’m considering the Gibson Burstbucker 3 😐 can anyone offer an opinion of is this a good choice or is there a better option for hard rock or heavy metal ?

I still can’t understand why the vibrating string signal is unaffected by the opposing polarity/winding but the EMI is affected.
