Please give an update on state of Thorium based plants in India. How far has the research has come, is govt. Going forward with it. I've seen many videos but none by Journalist.

This is a very important aspect of transition away from fossil fuels, but one that I hadn't thought of much till now. And this is also not being covered elsewhere. Just transition is important to maintain social and economic order! Maoist insurgency, human indicators like poverty and economic disparity and other critical issues affecting India right now are all directly connected to this topic. And as India pushes forward with solar, nuclear and other alternatives already, it is high time that a complimentary effort is undertaken with same urgency to ensure that those who are missing out on livelihood are transitioned to other hopefully more sustainable and rewarding occupations. I hope other media orgs and think tanks start popularizing this aspect among the general public.

India is one complex network where is there is zero reflection between what is on paper and what is actually happening at the ground level.

Why we never talk about nuclear alternatives we might be way better off with nuclear than renewable in the current situation. Renewable are expensive as well as inefficient. They need lots of effort and lots of land mass in case of solar renewables. On the other hand nuclear are expensive as well but they are way more efficient and effective. We can replace coal with nuclear power plants in quicker time and it's more reliable than renewable. May be the fear of nuclear and politics around it is reason but we are wasting a potential great solution. ✌

Agree, partly. However, nuclear comes up with "hidden" risks - hidden because the possible risks of operating a plant and safe disposal of waste that needs centuries of safe keep is often played down by the political and commercial interests - effectively pushing that risk down to the common folks in that area. No IP holder (eg Russia or France) agrees to indemnity, and govt is hesitant on listing down hard guarantees for people in law. In that case I find it reasonable to understand people's aversion to nuclear. This can be solved by good policy and renewed focus on local R&D, but we need to acknowledge the concerns first rather than downplay them

Address gender and marginalized people? How many female coal miners are there? Almost ZERO. What does marginalized mean? Race? religion? physical/mental handicap? gender (self identified or real)? Please explain - "woke" buzz words are worse than meaningless. You CAN do better.

Gender - I agree with your objection. Marginalized - I'm thinking of the overwhelmingly tribal and financially weak communities in the areas where most of the mining takes place
