This is one of the best videos i've seen on the topic, fantastic.

Thank you sir for explaining basics of pixel.

I found playing this at x0.5 speed gives you a more natural speaking voice rate especially for someone like me trying to understand this for the first time.

basic question.....irrespective of qled or oled, why blue led only is the basis for all displays? and why yelllow intermediate in oleds

Watching low colour bit depth content on a narrow spectra subpixel display is like listening to a low bitrate MP3 on studio monitors. So what solution is there for those wanting to actually enjoy older content? Colour bit depth and dynamic range upmapping, in the case of resolution upscaling?
@kekethetoad Жыл бұрын
like colour and dynamic range interpolation of sorts

The current quantum dot technology (2022) is widely used in QLED, does it have photo enhanced, photo emissive or electro emissive types?
@NanosysInc Жыл бұрын
We would say the current mainstream "QLED" LCD TVs are photo enhanced. They are using photoluminescence QDs to enhance the performance of an LCD.

If narrow spectra subpixel light is so much better than broad spectra phosphor light (as in the case of CRT or Plasma), then why do comparison reviews of the very best CRT's & Plasmas vs the very best QD/WRGB OLED's always end up praising the more natural and pleasing tones and light of the former while expressing disappointment and even disgust at the harsh, cartoony tones and light of the latter, where both are professionally calibrated? Why does CRI matter so much with photography and videography scene lighting, but supposedly doesn't matter when attempting to reproduce the results on a display?
@kekethetoad Жыл бұрын
i.e. only reproducing the dominant wavelengths/colours and omitting the other colours that typically accompany in a naturally lit setting (CRI 100 - CRT is CRI of 90+ vs CRI of ~40 at best...) will lead to a very sterile, artificial looking, lifeless image. The entourage effect of light is paramount for more convincing reproduction.

1 PIXEL ORIGINATED FROM 1 ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE FREQUENCY. CAN YOU ELABORATE ABOUT HOW 1 FREQUENCY IS DIVIDED TO 3 SUBPIXEL FREQUENCY ( R,G & B ) VERTICAL/HORIZONTAL POLARIZER, LIQUID CRYSTAL...🤔

So when a display is turned OFF, are the millions of "non-illuminated screen elements" (if that's acceptable) properly referred to as "pixels", even though there's no "picture" present? Just a noob wondering how broad the definition of "pixel" is...
@NanosysInc2 жыл бұрын
Good question and hadn't thought of it that way. We vote, yes, still a pixel whether it's on or off!
