I'm 60 years old and live in UK. Recently diagnosed with autism and ahdh and as part of learning more about who I actually am, I discovered the links with potential for posterior tongue tie. It would explain soooo much as I have many issues that fit with posterior tongue tie. Waited 6 months for an ENT appointment and finally saw a consultant two days ago who had never heard of posterior tongue tie. Total waster of 6 months. They said they would refer me to the Maxillofacial department for a consultation. It's not easy to even get these things diagnosed in the UK so I doubt we have much choice of which surgeon we get. I'm glad I saw this video though as at least I now know what procedure's they should be undertaking.

What is the benefit for getting Lazer over scissors being done? I have two lactation consultants and they’re both saying different things.

It's more important to ask what KIND of laser- there are good (CO2) and bad (diode). Also, the most important is the experience and expertise of the practitioner :)

Hello, do you recommend any providers who do functional deep release? I live in Taiwan, but I can also travel to US if there are providers that can help

when is a posterior tongue tie release contraindicated?
@OpusMyo Жыл бұрын
A variety of factors: occlusion issues, airway issues, body tension posture issues,- that’s why it’s SO important to have an excellent release provider AND excellent Myo, pt, chiro, and other modalities on your team to help!

Hi !!! I've watch one of your videos on tongue posture and have come across your reply to a comment, you talked about "optimizing the space for sounds to wiggle or something". And the person who commented claimed that more space /Air volume =louder & more resonant, which isn't the case according to science .So I wonder what makes this mysterious " resonance " possible in the voice.I've watch singing teachers talking about "Open Throat" ," more space at the back of the tongue" ," more space in the pharynx by moving the tongue forward ,touching the bottom front teeth " etc. Sure have something to do with the tongue and the back of the oral cavity ,it seems. But they doesn't help much with their explanations and weird exercises .So what your take on this "resonance" ,like why / how does it occur ?,what can i do to make it work for me?

Hello! That is a great question, but it needs a long answer lol. I was just thinking that perhaps I should do a short video on this subject since so many people have questions about it. I will mull this over and let you know when it's posted!

can a posterior tongue tie encourage a hypertensive gag reflex?
@OpusMyo Жыл бұрын
absolutely!!!! It can even cause swallowing issues and choking on food and liquids and even spit as well. It can even cause some people to gag or choke just brushing their teeth.

Wrong technique; the correct approach is to leave the genioglossus muscles intact, and just release the overlying mucosa with lateral, mucosa-only incisions.
@OpusMyo10 ай бұрын
Yes, there is some conflict in the field about which approach is best. In my opinion, mucosal only is ok for most people, but for singers, for example, a mucosal only approach may not alleviate all the symptoms. Thats why its so important to have an excellent myo and release practitioner to help decide what would be best for you!
