Hi Roger, Thanks so much for this outstanding "How to install" demonstration! My clutch coupler unit did not include the roll pin and the instructions label on the device was all barked up so I couldn't tell how it was held / pinned on the PTO shaft. Turns out my "County Line" clutch device bought at Tractor Supply has 2 zerks - 1 for each of the 2 threaded holes. Great point you made about making sure the pin is centered in the coupler hole - to allow each zerk fitting to thread in deep enough and I assume clearance for the grease to get out of the roll pin as its pumped in. No lubrication instructions on the device - i.e. how many "shots" or pumps of grease, frequency, etc. didn't see your grease gun so couldn't count pumps (maybe a cordless?). I'll go for 5 and hit it again with a few more pumps after a couple hours of running. Again, great video - no blocked or jostled shots, and you spoke very well - steady speed, very clear, simple, not over-complicate things. Back to the shop! Thanks again Roger! Tractor Andy

Roger very informative video you have taught me something new. I operated many old tractors with bush hog as a teen but never noticed the bush hog trying to push the tractor. That said one of these could have already been installed prior to me operating the equipment. Thanks for the info take care brother.

Maybe the tractors had a style of PTO that did not need one. Most tractors after the mid 60's probably don't need one. Have a good weekend.

They are definitely important item on all the old tractors with a single stage clutch when using a bush hog. My uncle let a bush hog force his old Massey Harris right off into the creek without one installed. I have a couple 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 flush bushings that slip right into the ORC for the little 8n’s. Good video Roger. Take care sir.

Did your uncle get hurt? I didn't know they made bushings for the ORC. Stay safe.
@tractorman44614 жыл бұрын
@@TractorTech it pushed him over an embankment and right into the chest deep water. He remained sitting in the seat stunned with now a water filled engine. He climbed off the seat, waded out and got another uncle to pull him out. The tractor was salvaged but they swore it never ran the same again. Alls well that ends well I guess. Lol. Live and learn they say.

Hey Roger - another great and informative video us! That's a great idea that can really add some safety to those older tractors. I have a "57 Ford 641 Work Master with a Sherman 2-speed tranny - 6V positive ground unit. One of these days I'm going to have it fully restored and rebuilt. Also, I'm subscribed to you channel and I have you channel set to notify me when all videos are released but I didn't get a notification on this one. I'd better check my settings! Once again - thanks for all the great content you put out!

Thanks! I always wanted to try a Sherman trans on one of those old tractors. The gearing was really lacking with just 4 gears. KZbin is messed up. I've had videos come up on the homepage and I wait to watch them later. When I go to the subscriptions page they are not there. I had this happen with a channel that has 100k subs and he said people tell him from time to time. Thanks for watching and letting me know you did not get notified! Have a good week!

Hi Tractor Tech - great point about these. We wouldn't run a brush hog or finish mower on the 8N without one! We've commented on your videos before. Found your channel from a comment you left on another channel. We'd really appreciate if you'd give our channel a look if you're not already following us. Thanks in advance!

I have a sub compact tractor like the JD 1025R.. Just bought a rotary cutter and it makes a good THUMP when I turn off the PTO. This looks like a possible answer to help. Are there any downsides to using one of these other than having to maybe shorten the PTO shaft, and the safety issue of the cutter spinning for a while after shut off? I really wan to put as little stress on my tractor as possible. Thanks!
@TractorTech2 жыл бұрын
You really should need one on 1025. Have you tired disengaging at a lower RPM?
@Gareth96v12 жыл бұрын
@@TractorTech yeah, that was at lowest RPMs it made the thump. Only tried once.. Already bought a rundown clutch, but prob won't try again till fall.

Does this help when you want to shift into a different gear or into reverse? In order for me to change gear I have to wait until pto stops spinning .
