I like the analysis, really do. But i think Müller is THE player whose technical skills, first touch, dribbling, finishing and physique are most underestimated. His goofy, lanky body type and unorthodox movements conceal his really impressive pressure resistance at the ball and upon first touch, his remarkable direct passing or his pretty effective (though not flashy) dribbling. He rarely misses a pass, crosses on point (again even under pressure) and is even very disciplined and successful when working in defense (1v1 as much as pressing and Gegenpressing). As for his finishing... There are people still calling him weak at that. The man scores double digits each year, assists in that range too and generally makes Robben, Ribery and James happen in the first place. Nobody can seriously believe that defenders aren't wise to Robben's left foot or Ribery's excellent synergy with overlapping defenders... It's part Müller who drags defenders out of their positions, with fake-outs, rotating positions and his very communicative style of directing his team mates. More so since Schweinsteiger and Kroos left. He doesn't shoot at empty goals either or avoids physical contact. (By the way his intelligence shows when he is provoked or provoking, never going too far, never giving off the feeling he even takes things too seriously but still not backing down) He seems always observant and seldom gives up on a situation which enables him to use occasional chaos (deflected balls, unsorted opponents) to his advantage. Delle Alli is tall by the way. At least for normal people's standards.
@Myllhahn
@Myllhahn 5 жыл бұрын
Lol, are u serious? I'm a Bayern fan and watching every single game. And I tell you his dribbling, passing and especially his first touch is as terrible, as people think it is. Every game he has the weakest passquote and is not pressing resistent at all. Bayern is just a very strong squad in relation to the rest of the bundesliga. James has comparable goal and assisting statistics, playing a much more defensive role. You may be right, that he made it often possible for Robben to cut inside, but Robben and Ribery were doubled by many teams on their wings, so Müller got massive space. He made more profit by them.

Muller has always been my favorite footballer precisely because his style of play seems to accessible to the average viewer yet his goal output is consistently formidable. Muller is a monster in FIFA ! You can play him at CAM with Free Roam, CF with False 9, RW or LW with cutting inside instructions & he’s super effective! He’s not fast so don’t try out sprinting defenders, but you can do small bursts of speed & change of pace, use his dribbling & good ball control to get in a shooting position. Use finesse shot from outside the box & you gonna get goals on goals on goals! He’s also super good @ just being in the right place @ the right time! Effective on headers too! I’ve even used him at CM at times & he’s effective! He’s just a great all around, balanced player with amazing shooting.

eness sidaty Mourinho is a bit like Allegri. He does not stick to any specific way of playing or formation. What they are really good at is using the enormous talents at their disposal to reach a solution. The last Liverpool vs Man Utd is a good example. All Mourinho did was to instruct his back line to punt long balls to Lukaku. Lukaku would win the header against Alexander Arnold and Rashford would get hold of the second balls, cut in and shoot. And then they would defend in a 6 men back line. Utd won the match 2-1. Nothing fancy or beautiful in terms of build up or passing but gets the job done provided talents and stars are there. What they arent good at are improving and developing individual talents eg Sanchez, Pogba inspite of being so talented have somewhat struggled to play consistently under Mourinho. Allegri at Juve havent really improved upcoming young, promising talents like Bernardeschi, De Sciglio, Bentancur. Marchisio was made to sit and warn the bench. Pjaca inspite of his technical strengths wasnt utilised at all . Just my 2 cents

Mourinho doesn't seem to have a specific attacking style of play. He seems to let his players define the style while sometimes restricts their creativity by adapting to his opponent's tactics.

Mourinho is pragmatic so rather than have his own concept of attacking the opposition he works on how to weaken their attack first and then exploit their weaknesses in defence

Everyone now plays like Mourinho. Spurs, Man City, Liverpool, Everton, even Arsenal, play Mourinho tactics to a certain extent. That's how far ahead he was. In fact, if Mourinho played more like Mourinho, he'd have kept his job at Man Utd. Towards the end of his tenure at Man Utd, he got stuck using the same tactics and his finishing lacked creativity.

One thing I have observed for raumdeuter is that they are effective when there is a dedicated striker. Take in case of Thomas Muller, he had Mandzukic and then Lewandowski. In Germany he was effective till Klose was playing, after he left even his output for Germany decreased.

One of the main attributes of Mueller is also his gift to create space... You can't only see his contribution in that easy way how most people look at it. If you watch him closer he not just create space for him self. May even more important is his ability to create space for his teammates. That is big part of his Raumdeuter phrase as well.

His finishing IS quite astonishing. Indeed not flashy but his instinct to find the goal from odd angles and with improvised finishing techniques is insane. And don't forget he's good at getting away with fouls in the final 3rd (like an attacking defender that blocks, elbows, pushes and all that for his teammates to exploit, and does it with elegance, haha...)

it's funny that it's the first time I'm seeing this video, and it's just one day after the game Barcelona x Napoli where Callejon stood almost all the time as a right wing, practically without touching the ball for the whole match and doing absolutely nothing; a forgetful performance. Although Callejon may have played as a Raumdeuter in 2018 (date of the video), today I almost fell off the chair when I read his name on ths video, because there are oceans separating the football level of Muller and Callejon (yes, I know the video isn't talking about quality, it's about the role on the pitch, but anyway it was just funny).

Another player I would call a Raumdeuter is Ayoze Perez. Especially when playing for my club Newcastle, he had this incredible knack of being in the right place at the right time. He wasn't fast, wasn't tall, wasn't a particularly skillful dribbler, and he was never a clinical finisher. I can remember often moaning about his lack of attributes when he seemed to go missing sometimes - he isn't the same caliber of player as Muller or Callejon. His best season was his final at Newcastle, when Salomon Rondon played up front. Both players worked brilliantly together, as both players thrived off the space the other made. It was their partnership, along with Rafa Benitez's coaching, that kept up a team that by all accounts should have been relegated. He seems to be doing a similar job at Leicester, under Brendan Rodgers, but doesn't seem to be getting as much gametime as I think he perhaps deserves.

The Raumdeuter sounds like an evolution to the goal poacher. Instead of finding a chance to score, they find a chance to receive the ball, so that they have possession. Could you say that Christiano Ronaldo is transitioning to this kind of role? I also wonder if Greizmann played this role in France's World Cup win. I think I might be confusing this role with another; any analysis is welcome! :-)
@FifaTikiTakaFan

Griezmann and Ronaldo are to strikerish to fit this role. They are in the Striker (or winger) position and its expected that Ronaldo takes the header after a cross and that Griezmann gets send in to the depths of the field to score. Mueller is not a striker (he played as one when the real strikers were injured, but it was clear, that he wasnt used to this) and plays often the assist (most assists in the saison 17/18 in the bundesliga) or doesnt touch the ball at all, he distracts defenders and creates space for the striker. When he scores it is often a surprise "How did he get here?" or a rebound. I have not watched a lot of Griezmann at the World Cup, but maybe he played the role of a false 9?
@t-manthedude9114
@t-manthedude9114 6 жыл бұрын
FifaTikiTakaFan I think Griezmann's role at the World Cup was that of a shadow striker, playing off the main target man. He plays the same role at Atletico Madrid often. Very similar to Dybala in fact. Perhaps the Ramdeuter bears some similarities to the shadow Striker
