On tutorials: I would like to see more where an master instructor and someone who is less experienced and closer to (but still above) the novice's skill work together. Because as a beginner or novice, what I find is that tutorials from masters tend to make assumptions about, or gloss over, certain levels of strength, control, muscle memory... things that they long forgot they had to struggle with, and use a lot of vague language like "just push through the heel" which... is often misleading, useless, and sometimes harmful, depending on how the novice interprets it. Having a novice taking an active part in developing the lesson and providing feedback to the master I think would massively help keep things on topic, and keep the master focused on language that is actually effective, rather than just stuff that makes sense for them, with all the unspoken context that have from years of mastery

Bro that power slid off the steps was pretty bad ace nice , it's been 3 years since I've been on my skates I hurt my back at work doctor took me off work for 2 years. But I'm now working as a paraprofessional teacher working with the special kids and it's the best job ever but in my 2 years off I gained a lot of weight due to depression now I'm 416 lbs when I got down to 370 and I was doing over 1500 miles in a summer and I got to get back to ripping the road up I always love watching you. You have always been the best motivation I've had for skating you rock man maybe one of these days hopefully I can skate with you

what an absolute mish-mash of architecture in that last couple of minutes - from derelict old buildings to villas to modern apartment blocks - all within 150 metres of each other. Nuts. And yes, agree about the foibles of KZbin teachers who are barely out of nappies, so to speak. It kinda backs up an earlier comment you made about the Tyson / Francis fight ... skating is similar to martial arts in the leg moves etc., ... well I guess that also goes for all of the martial arts dojos set up by black-belts who don't realise that they're only now starting their journey of discovery! Sounds like we have the same ignorant / arrogant eagerness within the skate community. Although, that said, I'll never fault someone who's just trying to share what they've learned - as long as it's with humility. Good to see some fresh content, Bill :) Enjoy Miami - looking forward to that content too :)

So Toronto Ice Skate when its finally freezing in the Bentway and your back from the States? Building on your Journey videos, would you make something like a video diary of your journey as you were progressing? Like what drills and skills you were working on at year 1, year 2 etc of your inline journey? I think that would be like a "tutorial" video because you're sharing the drills n skills you were working on, but also a combination of detailing your progression. Hindsight is 20/20, so you could share a baseline of where you were when you were starting and critique your past self with what went right, wrong, or what you would have done differently.

If ever the feeling so takes you that you try on a pair of rollerskates....be hyper hyper aware that the wheelbase is super short. I'm a strong skater and i fell IMMEEEEEEDIATELY on my ass trying on some derby skates.

I've been using mine for a couple months now - 100% worth it, I was skeptical too at first with the heel lift complaints but for me it's absolutely perfect and pretty close to flawless! Feels tanky yet sleek and slim at the same time.

I am attempting to use skating to lose weight. I am currently around 350lbs . I can rollerblade okay. I go to the rink regularly with my two kids. I have not been able to feel safe enough to skate with one foot for any length of time beyond just normal strides. I feel like I'm just stuck doing very beginner stuff. Is my size a factor here? I'm hoping to lean on this as exercise but I feel like such a beginner still. I've started back after a couple year break I've probably got 2 years total in with a lot of time in between.

So dope that blading figures into your weight loss plan. Anything that makes you want to go longer than planned, is excellent for fitness. Your weight should not be a barrier to skating but you'll find things get much easier as you get lighter. I find heavier skaters that have lost significant weight have great leg power. I have seen some avid heavier skaters doing little guy tricks. Love your story!!
