Giridhari Das, Namaskar 🕉️🙏 The name given to this Sannyasai is Swami Markandeya Bharathi, initiated in May, 2022 by my Guriji Sri Sadhu Professor Rangarajan in Bangalore. I'm an American, living in Tiruvannamalai. This is not an easy path as viewed from the sacred texts. Even Swami Sivananda's explanation of the rules and duties of Sanyasins are impossible to follow fully. There is comprehension of Your clear interpretation of The Gita but i am wrestling with this issue, currently. I'm 68 and not in good health. I've left the west, family, friends, 'the west', the world and am very happy with that side of renunciation. There are no cravings to ever return. The issues are that i have a pension, that im unable to wander and beg for alms/food, require a permanent residence and am unable to live on the streets or outdoors due to ill health. Jaya Swamiji! I'm sure Lord Rama will be most pleased if you take good care of yourself, using the pension He has given you to look after your health and wellbeing. That is the true nature of sannyasa: to dutifully observe our dharmas as a loving offering to the Lord.

Interesting, so being a Sannyasi actually does not mean giving up family life? Or is it just the Brahmachari who has to be fully renounced?

In the varna system, there is also the position of sannyasa, with varying levels of renunciation. But that's not a necessary part of the path of yoga. Brahmacari was for students aged 5-late teens. Also, not part an essential part of the yoga path.
