Looks like it's used to haul railroad equipment. Look at the deck. It has a set of rails built into it. Plus the trailer number has RR in it.

I’ve definitely only used these for RR service equipment but it could do other work in theory The winch helps get the RR stuff up the incline as it’s tough to get traction metal on metal. Super interesting work and time consuming lining up to the rails. What I don’t see here is the adapter rails that make the final ramp up from the rail line

I changed an air can on one of those once, they used it for rail maintenance equipment, which is probably the only type of trailer you could use for something like that.

my point exactly. my previous 55 ton Fontane RGN weighed 23,000 LB with 3 axles, and 26,000 LB with 4. The 60 ton I have now is 7,000 LB heavier.

@@HHTV60 yeah it's annoying, especially since half the stuff I haul when I pull my scissor neck is multiple pieces and i have to keep it under 80,000 being 50k empty lol

It's far enough back that it doesn't pick up dirt only the first couple inches of the neck touch the groun. Unless you drop it in a mud pit

It's tall because its actually a bed truck trailer it has 3 positions current position is bed truck then in the middle is tractor and last is flat when it scissored out.

Gives you a longer ramp but you need to carry a rug to place under it to keep the fifth wheel plate area clean of dirt and rocks

They are very cool but not the best use I've seen in that configuration. The best is when operated as a winch trailer because you can run it as a highboy winch and haul buildings, but still convertible to a step deck for tall loads.

American heavy haulage trailers really are small and unimpressive. Here in AU 72 or more tyre lowboy, spreader axle trailers is where its at, hauling 100tons+; overweight, oversize its not that big of an issue. Too many rules in the land of the formerly free.
