Thank you for making such an informative video! Here is a question: our family of 4 (2 adults, kids 15/11) is heading down to Nassau in mid-February (2 weeks from now). We have never snorkeled or been in Caribbean waters before, but would like to try it. Can you tell me what level suits we need? Short/long, 3mm? Help!
@DiversSupplyYT10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and for your question. The water temps in Feb. run between 72 and 76. With surface activity like snorkeling you can likely be ok with a full 3mm. That's pretty cool for a shorty IMHO, especially if individuals have little body fat. A 3mm full can protect from cold, sun exposure and from those pesky little Jelly Fish that might be around. For extra warmth a neoprene beanie works well and later adding a neoprene vest under the full can really make a huge difference too. Have fun be safe ! Bob C

Hmmmm. Would have been nice to get more detail on the actual Henderson suit’s design and materials like the other 2. All ya did was discuss the zipper on it. Thanks for the video though.

David, I spoke to the Henderson rep. and we are going to do a specific vid on their suits.

Hi. I'm not sure what's appropriate for my planned activities. I'm not going underwater or diving. Just metal detecting a lake Erie beach with average temp of 70-80° ferenheit. I'll be wading in water for a max of 5 hrs per outing in waist-deep water. I've got a full-length pair of 2mm neoprene bottoms (not shorties). With water Temps (listed above) and air Temps averaging 72-80° ferenheit, I feel no need for a neoprene top or jacket. What are your thoughts on my needs? I was just going to go with the 2mm neoprene full length bottoms and a long sleeved shirt and sunhat for UV protection. 5 hrs is a good amount of time continually in the water, and I don't want to lose too much body heat, nor do I want to overheat. Please, Sir...I'd be most grateful for any advice you can offer. Be blessed!

Thanks for the question. It's all based on core temp. there's a lot of difference between 72 and 80 water temp. Yes it's your legs, but blood always returns to core. Legs with 2mm may not be enough. Just my .02

@@DiversSupplyYT - Thank you for your reply. I think water Temps at the lake are 74° today. It's my understanding that water temperature readings are taken about 5 miles offshore in Lake Erie. Therefore, am I correct in thinking the actual swimming beaches would be considerably higher than those readings, since it's shallower water and nearshore?

Can shorty wetsuit help me to float better and not sinking when i tired of snorkeling ?
@DiversSupplyYT5 жыл бұрын
Shorty wetsuits are great for Snorkeling, you never have to worry about sinking... that being said you will not be able to dive down, if at all ..to see something without major effort... and then you'll just bob back up.

Can I wear a springsuit to the pool in the summer ?

No only a Summer weight suit in the Fall

DiversSupply haha I meant a shorty wetsuit 😊
@DiversSupplyYT5 жыл бұрын
@@nivedajayashankar5636 Sure lots of folks wear shorties in the pool... remember water pulls heat away from your body 25 faster than air does.. At some pools, like when I teach in the big pools on the military bases I go to, I use a shorty...
@MaSt3rErIc4 жыл бұрын
Is it logical to wear a shorty under a full suit?
@DiversSupplyYT4 жыл бұрын
lots of folks do that vs having say a 3mm full , 5mm full and a 2.5mm Shorty.... say use you use shorty and 3mm full gives you 5.5mm on core and 3mm extremes... lots of movement. Add gloves or hood or beanie... lots of diversity

is it okay if i wear a 2mm shorty in 55 degrees water
@DiversSupplyYT4 жыл бұрын
Ethan, you can wear anything you wish but you will freeze your butt off in 55 degree water in a 2mm shorty...

If you're just snorkeling on the surface, it's fine. But straight up dives, you won't last very long.
