Hi Dr. Juile, You are the master. You are my hero! Of the Snellen and of helping your children avoid entry into myopia. My congratulations to you on that future success!

Not sure about the requirements for that. You may have to check with the rules of the state/province you wish to operate in.

I have one question julie ma'am.snellen chart test for smallest letter which we can see with foveal acuity.what type of test is done to check for large objects
@visontherapy2 жыл бұрын
Per Dr. Julie: Counting fingers or hand motion

@@visontherapy but that is done for peripheral vision right
@visontherapy2 жыл бұрын
No, counting fingers is central vision. Hand motion would be used if counting fingers fails as an accurate assessment.

But if you push yourself to do better on the chart... ie; read more than you can see clearly and guess at the letters, wouldn't that give you a weaker prescription and thus, make you see worse than you would normally see if you had stopped reading when the chart letters were still clear?

You need to have 20 40 vision to pass the eye test whenever you renew your driver's licsence.. One way around that would be to just memorize the lines and try to pretend that you can really read the numbers properly.. Of course not all sellen charts are the same.. Some charts have the 2040 on the 5th line and others on the 6th line and some charts have a different set of letters all together.. I'm not saying this is the best thing to do but if you don't have health insurance and you find yourself forced to see an eye doctor for an exam to get prescription glasses that could easily be several hundred dollars.. In reality you can drive a car properly with less than 20 40 vision.. As long as you can see the traffic signs and lights within a reasonable distance you should be ok.. But don't attempt this if you really do have a serious vision problem😎

Thanks for the hack and I understand the dilemma especially with insurance the way it is in the states. But we definitely do not recommend circumventing the requirements as one might save a few hundred bucks and lose their life or worse yet end someone else's as a result. Definitely worse. :(

@@visontherapy I actually took the eye test a few days ago and passed it with flying colors.. It was actually much easier than I thought and it was a totally different looking eye chart than the one I was practicing off of.. The letters were arranged in a totally different way.. But to be 100 percent be honest with you I think the reason I passed so easily is because was I was not standing far enough away from the chart.. It was a mini eye chart and I was supposed to be 10 feet away.. The girl at the pharmacy just had me back me up a little bit away from the chart and there was no way I was 10 feet away from that chart.. I would say I was maybe 7 feet away from the chart at best.. That 3 feet makes a big difference, Had I been a exactly 10 feet away I might not have been able to read it so easily.. .
