Can a special dividend ever be considered a qualified dividend?

I just opened a ROTH IRA account. It says I have until April 15 to contribute for 2018 contributions. Can I do a maximum contribution for 2018 and for 2019 in the same year?

Yes, but you don't need to max out 2019 by Dec. 31. You can make current-year IRA contributions until April 15 of the following year

@@MatthewBuntyn I see. Are there any clear benefits to maxing out my contributions early in the year as opposed to incremental contributions throughout the year?

mazuera ya, stocks ate cheap right now, i always front load in beginning of year, i would max out roth for 2018 and 2019 while you can, 5500 is max for 2018 while 6000 is for 2019

@@mazuera The general consensus that I've heard, is that it's better in the long-term to make incremental contributions (Dustin likes weekly).

Do you have to pay taxes for any type of dividends earned ?
@davidandrews99145 жыл бұрын
Depends on the account. Dividend earned in IRA's and employer sponsored retirement plans, no. In taxable brokerage accounts yes.
