Good quick comprehensive info. I'm 33 and I start an online IT certificate program next week that basically helps you get your A+ Net+ and Sec+. I'm not one of those guys that's always been building computers and know every in and out though...Hopefully I can get into an actual hands on role to start learning more of the networking/physical aspects of IT. Teaching myself some web dev stuff right now too, just in case.

You can land a Help Desk role without going through all that. Given it's an entry level role, most employers are going to train you any way. I've been working in IT myself off and on since 2012 without a Degree or any certs or a+. I'm currently a Desk Support Technician which is a Level 2 role up from Help Desk or Service Desk. The nesk role up from Desktop support is obviously an Admin role as most people that are in Desktop support transitions into a Jr. Systems Administrator role. You just need to do Labs, and job shadowing before you can move up to gain experience. Good luck.

@@eman0828 Thank you. I'm hoping to get my foot in the door as soon as possible.

@@AnthonyJamesB Yeah there are tons of Help Desk and IT Support jobs which you can get right now. Very few entry level roles requires any certs. You can study for your certs while you are working on the Help Desk or some entry level support role. I wouldn't worry about getting an A+. You can study for the A+ material if you like, but you aren't going to really need it once you are already working in Help Desk or Desktop Support. If you are going the networking route def get your CCNA. Network+ is fine for sysadmins. But experience is what counts the most.

I hadn't really worked with computer components until my first internship and I didn't build a computer until about a year ago. Working towards those certificates whether it's by yourself or with a program is a great way to get foundational knowledge and will make your resume look good which can help you get more interviews.

Does this work type have any relationship to Salesforce administrators? Anything alike?
@HenokTech2 жыл бұрын
Salesforce is still a software so it's going to be hosted somewhere, either on a physical server at a company or on the cloud. So the system admin might deal with the setup, thinking about data management, security, etc. But the application side of things may not be done by a system admins but rather with someone with salesforce software knowledge. I'm not too familiar with salesforce so I would definitely look at job descriptions for this job to get a more accurate representation of what that would look like.

Hi does a Linux system administrator pay well?? And is it a low level job to think of?? Just a curious question and great video by the way.... 👍👍
@HenokTech2 жыл бұрын
It does pay pretty well. Video about pay coming soon. By low level, if you mean entry level then it's not usually an entry level job - at least not compared to something like Helpdeks or desktop support. It usually requires some experience before you can become linux sysadmin.
