It's true never swim above your ability but I learned the hard way, it's not good to be out alone without something..a noodle, anything to keep your head up. I can tread water for hours and swim slowly over a long distance but I found myself in a weird current that pulled down, in a lake, I still don't understand what that was. But I had nothing floaty, I'm grateful my sister in law made them come back for me. Now I always bring a noodle. It's a pain because I like to swim freely and I have to keep retrieving it. But that was a scary day in Maine and people love me so I owe it to them to be a little extra safe.

My mom said never swim in rivers, crazy currents. But there are leeches too..😮...
