What is a Walk To Emmaus weekend?

In this video, we meet four people who have participated in a Walk to Emmaus and discover what the experience has meant to each of them.

The chapel visits where creepy. There was a medium sized wooden cross and they had us confess our sins and nail them to the cross. The last thing we did was go to chapel where there was all former people who had been on a walk up front facing us holding candles and in black robes singing some songs. We sat down and some words where said by the head guy over chapel that weekend . It was like some kind of initiation in some cult. Just weird . I'll never forget it that's for sure. But I found later the roots of the Emmaus movement come from catholicism back in the early to mid 1900's .. The walk I attended had the Bible studies and the candies on the bed and we got letters from different family members. Stuff that would be emotional , the family or friends writing are told specifically what to write as far as in general encouragements . There was a local blues worship band and the spiritual leader was my old pastor who had baptised me a few years before . Then there was room time with the leader of the separate groups we had to go to his room and go through some kind of group relationship building thing , getting to know the " family" It's just a weird way to achieve change in people. I'm sure every walk is different so really I'm just here to share my story. There was good and bad and because of the bad mixed with the good, all of it was unclean.. This is strictly my opinion based upon my own walk to Emmaus . Like I said , yours may have been different as I've talked to others whose walk was different. But I will never go on one again regardless because of the roots to catholicism . Crazy days we live in .

My name is Douglas Denmark and I attended Emmaus Walk #100 at Disciples Crossing in Athens, Texas. I sat at the table of Mark and attend church at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Mineola, Texas...."The Holy Ghost Headquarters of East Texas". What I got out of the Walk.....Lord Lord Lord!!!
