In this video I tried to explain the concepts of AC and DC.
Thomas Edison is known as the inventor of the bulb and the Direct Current it uses to light the bulb. Direct Current It is used with DC abbreviation, which is the abbreviation of the initial letters of English Direct Current words.
Nikola Tesla is known as the inventor of the Alternating Current. Alternating Current is also used with the abbreviation AC which is the abbreviation of the initials of the English Alternating Current words.
DC measurements are made with a multimeter, AC measurements are used with oscilloscopes.
Direct Current does not change direction according to time is always constant. But in Alternating Current, the direction and intensity changes according to time. In AC voltage, the direction of the current continuously changes as positive and negative.
Alternating current has some advantages over direct current.
In alternating current, the voltage value can be easily increased and decreased by means of transformers consisting of coil windings.
Very high voltages cannot be generated in DC. Low voltage is generated. It is mandatory to use thick cross-section cables to distribute the obtained direct current to the receivers. However, in Alternating Current, the voltage value is high, so the current value is very low compared to the direct current. For this reason, thin section cables are used in AC network according to DC.
In addition, AC motors are lighter and more efficient than DC motors. In smaller sizes it is much easier to make more efficient and maintenance-free AC motors. Therefore, while AC motors are preferred in industrial areas, DC motors are used in applications where smaller power requirements are required.
Alternating current can be easily converted to the correct current with the help of adapters made with basic electronic circuit elements such as diodes, capacitors and regulators. However, converting direct current to alternating current is very difficult and losses are high. Special devices are needed.
The most important disadvantage of AC compared to DC is that it cannot be stored. DC can be stored with the help of sources such as batteries, batteries and batteries, but AC cannot be stored. Used as produced.
