What does it mean to be an Adventist? Who decides who's in and who's out? In episode 7 of our series, we're joined by friend and colleague Natalie Darisme, a female pastor from the Washington Conference. She shares her perspective on what it’s like being a female pastor within the Adventist church, and how that affects her view of what it means to be an Adventist.

I came into the SDA church after growing up in the Presbyterian Church. I fell in love with a God that was coming again and the Sabbath and actually studying the Bible. But the best Pastor I ever had was a female Pastor in the Presbyterian Church that I could be real with and who really cared for me!

I grew up in a protestant home but not SDA. I am still so thankful for the truths of God's Word that I learned from SDA Bible studies. I spent 35 plus years in SDA Education. Nothing in this world is perfect. Plus, the wheat and tares grow together and in the end God takes care of the tares.

Thank you so much for doing this podcast. I am very encouraged that young pastors are asking these questions. Keep it up fellas. Ever since the "woman pastor" issue has been on the table it has amazed and sometimes amused me that the church which holds EGW in such high esteem can spend so much time arguing about "skirts vs pants" Praise God for Pastors like Natalie and non-pastors like Timothy Jennings and many others. God bless you all. Keep on being real.

"Felt" a call.. This is always the mystery to me. People have a feeling to become something and then they say its God.. This could be men or women. How does one why decipher between your mind telling you the ducks all line up i guess God wants me to do it Vs actually knowing with out a doubt that God wants you to do something. The mind is powerful and can convince itself of something/anything especially if its something we want to do. Noone has been able to definitely prove that God actually told them to go into a particular field. I find people go into certain careers or jobs and then ask God to help them with said choice. If the career it succeeds they say its God..if the career doesn't work out they say it wasnt Gods will... So the question becomes how do you know Gods specific will for you life and is there even one?

MAN!!! Those last 2 experiences, PRAISE GOD!!! He is faithful!!! Thanks for being in the podcast. *-*-* 1. "Because of the way our church systemically on a world wide level treats women in leadership..." Auch!!!!! So true and sad. 2. "The power in seventh day adventistm really is at the local level" YESS!!! I always say that our greatest strength and our greatest weakness (it shouldnt be but it is) as a world wide church, is our diversity. Its sad that a visitor can get a bad experience from one of our churches, and then think, well all SDA churches most be like this, I will look for Jesus else where.

Some SDA oppose female pastors but they embrace a doctrine that is attached to a woman-Fundamental belief no 18

Great conversation, but it seems your placing personal experience over the word of God. Because the question is, is women's ordination BIBLICAL? The question is not how anyone feels about it. or personal, subjective evidence- like, "we see the fruit". What is the scriptural evidence? I personally think it's not the biggest issue, but the big issue is allowing personal biases to influence and, in this case, wrest the scriptures to one's own pre-conceived ideas.

This is a highly debated subject in the SDA, dont listen to anyone and do your own research, listen to both sides, dont let secular movements influence your judgement, channels like this are very bias, they are already decided they are right on this issue, personally id be careful to jump the gun on this issue. We are called to be a peculiar people, nothing peculiar of the direction the church is going, LGBTQ is slowly creaping into the church, female pastors, burying EGW, fundamental beliefs, we are having an identity crisis hence this channels name. God help us. It certainly seems as of the church will fall but God promises he will sift out rebellion and the church will make it to the end. God bless.

@salx777x9
@salx777x9 6 ай бұрын
Look up Dennis Priebe he can best explain it. Neo-Adventism is trying to do away EGW, some of the fundamental beliefs and last day theology. They constantly trying to prove how similar they are to the daughters of Rome when we've been set apart. Research the subject for yourself.

It’s not easy to be Adventist today. The soon-return-of-Jesus is hard to inspire members as decades roll. The Sabbath is hard to honor as research continues to cast doubt on the idea of a-seven-days creation week. Global integration makes it hard to respect the administrative system due to the collision of cultures. We should, therefore, show compassion towards modern-day Adventists. Their health message is, however, still relevant.

What is an Adventist?... It seems like it is getting to be more and more what the "flesh" wants it to be. Of course, this is not what a true Seventh-day Adventist is. "Seventh-day Adventists are now to stand forth separate and distinct, a people denominated by the Lord as His own. Until they do this, He cannot be glorified in them. Truth and error cannot stand in copartnership. Let us now place ourselves where God has said that we should stand.... We are to strive for unity but not on the low level of conformity to worldly policy and union with the popular churches."--Lt 113, 1903. {2MCP 559.2}

@@seanlehnhoff9416 that's a very good question. Sometimes that's exactly what we're told we should do and other times there's a lot of interpretation. Most sda's I've met believe the Bible is the last word and should be followed to the letter or jot tittle. I didn't know sda's had female pastors and it doesn't seem to be biblical.
