I'm doing my dissertation on Tim Burton movie's and had to look into Auteur theory. YOU ARE MY LIFESAVER!!

Glad to help - if you're looking for some really good information on Burton as an auteur, the film theory book in my recent film books video has an entire section on him.

Just come across this when having heard the word I looked it up - brilliant video. As soon as you explained it I went to Wes Anderson - with a current film out there are so many references to the Wes Anderson style.

just around 8:00 you mention Tim Burton films looking like Tim Burton films, while showing "The Nightmare Before Christmas"- Directed by Henry Selick
@marciaprior71042 жыл бұрын
it is a Burton story and he had a lot of creative control over the film. He wasn't able to direct as he was working on another project at the time. Selick was a long time collaborator. Netflix looks at this film in their "Movies that Made Us" series.

Are you an auteur because you made this KZbin film? Are KZbinrs in general auteurs because we can recognise their work and because usually, they are the sole producer, director, cinematographer, editor and actor? I'm thinking that the rise of these personal, auto-fiction type stories people are telling on the internet is the next logical stage of 'autuer thoery' what do you think?

One observation I made from this masterpiece is that the lady is natural loving homey girl.. Omg! She’s criminally beautiful and calm but very active when you get closer. Bruh if u find a woman like this you don’t waste time straight put the 💍 on it.

You are probably right! I think he gets quite a lot of flack just because his films are quite formulaic, but like I said in the video, surely that makes him an Auteur!

I absolutely hate this term. You want to be an....."Auteur?" great. Go get yourself a camera then go and light the set on your own and run the camera all by yourself. Then you can call yourself an "Auteur" at all of the cocktail parties. Making movies takes hundreds of people. It could not be more a collaborative effort. Ego makes Auteurs.
