Very good exlenation! I love to lure players into "energy trapping" me with my G91, and when I am about to stall out, and fall back drastically and they are about to turn slowly I send a Sidewinder up and boom. Quiet a lot of people fall for that for whatever reason. You must be alone with him though, since you are haning in the air and a teammate of the enemy can sweep the floor with you.

This will help me a little bit in simulator air battles. I play with mouse and keyboard on simplified mode so I won't be able to loop and things like that very well but I might be able to use this partially to come out on top. I've been playing for 3.5 years and I know when to pull off most of the times but never rly trying to replicate what my enemys did. This sure helps! Thank you for your explanation!

I find this energy trapped ng the mist difficult to do cause you have to know alot to do it right and don't end up stalling in front of the enemies guns :) so thank you for the video man!

Yeah. One thing I’ve found, after 5 or so years, is that nothing beats experience and practice. Tutes like these are great, but even in this one he said you learn to judge the situation. Instruction can shorten the learning curve a bit, but only a bit. Unless you are insanely talented, in which case you don’t need to put names to all the stuff you do instinctively :D.

For me it took a lot of time to figure out energy fighting. I had to watch a lot of vids like this and then practice, practice practice. I find the Bf-109 E4 or equivalent to be great planes to practice energy fighting with. After I figured it out my stats went way up and I find energy fighting to be the most rewarding play style in WT.

there isnt even just one form of executing energy traps (upwards with energy advantage). basically every manouvre you force upon your enemy, that lets him bleed more energy than you, is an energy trap. f.e. with a zero you trap the enemy into a horizontal turnfight, or some planes accelerate really well in a certain speedrange (f.e. one of the saab attackers is godlike at ~500kph and sh*t above afaik), so you keep the fight within that speeds, to gain the energy advantage, and then, if the enemy decided to take your trap, take the fight into the vertical, when the enemy is drained.

im almost at top tier and have an absurd amount of hours on this game and i STILL didn't know how to properly Energy trap. the MiG-15 was prolly the best plane for it. Props are fun but there's always that one Spitfire (Fuck Spitfire mains.) in Low Earth orbit, or in jets people hardly respect the 1v1 or just flatout TK. the only time TK is authorizable is if someone else TKs, why can't people understand that... nice vid though.
