I'm very confused about how a person can influence another to buy, or think a certain way. I can't comprehend how people can so easily be told what to do or think. Can someone explain this phenomenon? Thanks. It's truly concerning.

The word "influencer" has a callous, cynical connotation and only seems appropriate from the business side of things. As far as I am concerned, those to whom I subscribe are social media "educators, "entertainers" or "edutainers". After thousands of hours of viewing, I can safely say that they have not influenced me to buy any single thing at all. In terms of "edu.." everything passes through this critical filter that I have. So the word "influencer" makes me laugh and squirm at the same time.
