Hey Antonelli, thank you so much for putting this info on youtube. I wanted to become a baseball player since I was 8yrs old. I have playing non stop since I was 5yr old every year. My dream was to make it to the MLB. the dream is a little less powerful as I am 29 and not in shape. but I loved watching this week in baseball and learning everything what it's like to be a major leaguer. I want to play baseball forever and would love to get paid for it. And I love the information and insight your giving. thank you so much. gideon

Matt, I see a lot of players such as Josh Donaldson and Kris Bryant who are full into the approach of hitting the ball in the air. Obviously the ideal trajectory are line drives. However, when you miss Do you believe in hitting fly balls vs ground balls? Or would you rather hit ground balls instead of fly balls?
@AntonelliBaseball7 жыл бұрын
Think it depends on your strength and level of play. At the MLB level, ground balls are outs. But it also depends on strength and size. If you cannot drive the ball you don't want to hit lazy fly balls. I go for line drives and if I miss slightly under hopefully I hit a double or home run. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Can you talk about what kind of BP you did before during the offseason? Like did you make sure to see any game speed pitching either from live arms or machines? Or was it mainly just like standard BP? If so was it always a struggle jumping into live hitting in spring training? do clubs give hitters some leeway with this or are you expected to hit well right out of the gate?
@AntonelliBaseball7 жыл бұрын
I hit a lot of flips in off-season. I would hit bp the last few weeks before I left. Then I would get my live hitting in the first week or so of spring training.

I've heard a lot of stories about guys who played in the MLB and have always been good at baseball, a stud from the start, I've also heard of guys who almost quit or even did quit baseball at some point and returned to it years later only to find themselves more matured and better at it, I guess my question is, were you always a stud or were you a late bloomer? In other words when did you realize you were good and could make some real money in this game?

Why do I go from good tee work and good soft toss to not being able to hit live pitching
@AntonelliBaseball7 жыл бұрын
Live pitching is 100x harder to hit. My guess is it has something to do with your bat path that is giving you a hard time once the difficulty goes up! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Topic question: Advice for young high schoolers with LOTS of talent, but sucky grades and zero will to try and do well in school. Thanks. (my nephew)
@kevinjones27457 жыл бұрын
Jared Barthel he's a dumbass. There's a million college players that have talent and get good grades. Bottom line you better hit 450 or throw 94 for a coach to go through the headache of coaching him.
@YAKYAKYAK7 жыл бұрын
Jared Barthel Figure out why he doesn't want to try. Your nephew is the only one who can provide that answer. Maybe he doesn't have a plan/goal in mind. Maybe he's bullied or negatively connotates school work.
@AntonelliBaseball7 жыл бұрын
Haha not sure my advice is going to help him. But in most cases it doesn't matter how good you are, if you don't do well in school it is tough for most schools to admit you. I wish him luck though! Thanks for watching and commenting!
