We used to work for some of the local independent petrol stations but they’ve all closed down now. Excellent videos thanks.

I worked for 16 years building EX cctv systems for hazardous areas. It was BASEEFA certified, then became ATEX certified. Stainless steel housings containing camera trays, or Junction Boxes, and monitor housings. We also put lightning surge arrestors in EX JB's too. All the cabling, glanding, etc also had to be EX rated. It was a complex, expensive business. We mainly manufactured systems for Oil refineries (Conoco), oil platforms world wide, Chemical plants, Nuclear power stations, and flour mills. It was really interesting work, varied, and got to play with and build some great projects. A lot of the staff did not understand EX equipment at all, or it's importance in safety for hazardous areas. They never lasted long in the job lol...

No requirement in the UK to specifically produce an Explosion Protection Document. I work as a Process Safety Engineer - which includes DSEAR / hazardous area assessments.

You need to look at the Design, Construction, Modification, Maintenance and Decommissioning Of Petrol Filling Stations Jointly published by the APEA and Energy Institute. Also required is a safety passport to work on Petrol sites.

Need more than a safety passport, also need to be compex trained to install and verify the electrical installation in a hazardous area.

As am thinking sparks how much in a car could spark. What concentration of exclusive gases do we need to be a danger pair cubic meter. I really need to read up on ATEX regulations.
