WHAT BAPTISM: IS & ISN’T
To help with that, we have the private lessons that Paul taught to those who came to Christ; they are recorded for us in the Book of Colossians.
As we have already seen, every baptism event recorded in the Book of Acts was preceded by belief in the Gospel and followed by the outward sign of that belief in believer’s baptism. So, baptism is an outward declaration that salvation has already taken place.
Baptism is not salvation.
Baptism is not part of salvation.
Baptism is not necessary for salvation.
Baptism only portrays the wonders of what Christ did for us in salvation.
Baptism is only an act of obedience, a choice to follow and obey what the Lord asked us to do and teach in our commission from Him, as in an outward confession of what Christ has done inwardly.
But baptism is an amazing reminder of how supernaturally God works inside of all who are born-again. Please turn over to Colossians 2, as we see precisely what God's Word says as:

Dear brothers and sisters. Please pray for me. For about 15 years I have been struggling with debilitating sickness that's made my life unberable. I am in my mid 30 and would love to still have streingth to serve my Savior and Lord. Jesus is my Healer. What a liar! Isaiah 44:3 I will pour water upon him that is thirsty. 1 Peter 3:20-21 Just as water saved 8 in the time of Noah, so does baptism save. Mark 1:1-8 John baptized with water for repentance, for the remission of sin. Luke 3:21 all people were baptized. Acts 13:24 baptism of repentance to ALL of Israel. John 2:6 the water pots of purifying at the wedding. Acts 21:26 signify the days of purifying. John 4:14 Those who drink of my water shall never thirst. 1 Corinthians 12:13 by one spirit are we all baptized into one body and have been made to DRINK into one spirit. (Romans 8:9 & 8:11 either you were baptized into the father or into Jesus, as Jesus was baptized into the father, as he was numbered with the sheep, Mark 15:28. Either you were sanctified in the father, or you were sanctified in Jesus, Jude 1:1, & 1 Corinthians 1:2) Isaiah 11:11 I shall reach out my hand a second time. Matthew 28:18-19 Baptize all nations. Our Initial Justification is always a pure act of Grace by God. That is why we Catholics can baptize infants (and why in the OT babies were circumcized) because there is absolutely NOTHING required of us to receive that initial justification. Ironically it is the Baptists and other non-caths who put conditions on our initial salvation; such as you must believe, you must make an act of faith, you must call on the name of Jesus, etc. etc. Any sect which makes a 'must' claim is a works-based religion whether they admit it or not; because they place some requirement on the part of the believer for justification to come to them. "Peter said to them;...'be Baptized everyone of you in the Name of Jesus Christ...and you shall receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost...For the promise is to you, AND TO YOUR CHILDREN and to all'..." The Acts 2:38-39 Jn 20:21, "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." Jn 17:18, "Even as thou hast sent Me into the world, so I have sent them into the world." Jn 17:22-23, "And the glory that thou hast given Me, I have given to Matt. 28, 18-20: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye, therefore. and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. It is about the fact that we have sinned. For that reason we all need a Savior. If we want forgiveness for our sin and peace with God. If we want to escape eternal hell. If we want to go to heaven we must understand the following. We DO NOT get saved (go to heaven), get right with God, forgiven, by being good, by being religious, by just believing in God, by praying a prayer, being baptized, asking or accepting Jesus into our hearts, accepting Jesus as our personal Saviour, confessing our sins, joining a church, cleaning up our lives, doing penance, taking the bread and the wine, or doing all these things accumulative. Salvation is a gift that is given to those who repent and come to faith. Eph. 2:8,9 Salvation takes repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 20:21. testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Make no mistake. We cannot be a friend of Christ and remain a rebel against God and unless we repent we remain a rebel. The word repent, from the Greek word “metanoia”, means a change of mind or direction. God is not receiving those who almost or kind of repents. It is like the word About-face which is a 180 degree turn. We turn from not wanting God fully in our lives to willfully surrendering to Him to lead our lives. When any person comes to the place where they are broken over their sin toward God to the point that they want to get right with God no matter what it will cost them they are in a state/spirit of repentance toward God. Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. The repentant heart would walk away from anything or any one to get right with God. We then take that willing repentant heart we have towards God and place it on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Master, because He paid the price for our sin, and that becomes faith. At that moment God’s grace through Christ is freely applied to us and we are born again, saved from eternal hell and sealed by the Spirit so that we will never again return to the practice of sinning. 1John 3:9,10. Our first command after salvation is to be baptized. Repentance of sin is the result of the new birth/salvation and will be part of the sanctification process and our new life with the Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 2:10. While we may sin from time to time after salvation it will never again be our practice 2Cor. 5:17, 1John 3:9,10. John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. It all boils down to are we sorry/broken enough over our sins against God and do we want to get our hearts right with Him or not. Let us be sure that tomorrow does not belong to us.

Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Cor. 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

I don't understand how you can say, baptism doesn't mean anything? Then do you still perform it? I know it doesn't save us. But Jesus told his disciples to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as part of the Great Commission.

Review Romans chapter 6. We have to die in order to become a new creation. Baptism is vital for salvation. Even Jesus did it. We have to believe what He said. Faith in Jesus means to believe, to trust Jesus and do what He said.

Way too confusing for me and I'm no newcomer . Definitely more information out there that I have not received yet . Specifically the reason and meaning of baptism of first believers ( Jews ) vs Gentiles after the resurrection of Jesus and the ministry of Paul . Example ..." believe and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins " . Why was Jesus baptized ? No sins there . Something missing , to me . Seems like only real reason to do it is to stand in obedience even if we don't all agree on the real story .Do you believe ? Yes . Get baptized and get on with your walk . I'm good with that . Peace

I suggest you are perverting the truth. You're only seeing what you what the bible to say and not what it is actually telling you. If baptism is not part of salvation, have you lined through *and is baptized* in Mark 16:16? This is how you are teaching that verse. _Whoever believes __-and is baptized-__ will be saved_ If you haven't lined through it, you need to because you don't believe what it says as written.

How many times does He spoke about "living water" ? Many isnt it? Well, when He said to Nicodemus "You must be born again from water and spirit" He refers to: Gods Word: Jesus Word=(Living Water) "whoever drinks from my water shall never be thirsty again" Born from Spirit: Be baptized in the Holy Spirit. HOW TO BE SAVED: -REPENT (Metanoia=change of mind from unbelief to belief in Jesus) THAT ONCE YOU SINNED you are doomed forever. And therefore NEED of an external salvation (you cant save yourself, nobody can) BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL (belief that Jesus is Gods son took ALL your DEBT past present and future and resurrected the 3rd day) And He literally promised you PERSONALLY ever lasting life (Rememher Thomas didnt wanted to believe in Jesus resurrected until he saw the nail marks and the speer pierce)

I AM.. that’s what you say when referring to self! Because there is only God ( I AM).. source! No other source! That’s what it means to repent! To change your mind from an outside source somewhere apart, to knowing it’s all within you.. the kingdom is within you ( Luke 17.21).. to not give power to another!
