I use Oil first like you said. Then when I decide to use one or the another I wait for 5 minutes for the oil to work on the skin then I use the balm or butter. Great stuff !

Beard butter is the greatest product I've ever used on my beard . I never use balm anymore. I use Mo Bros sandalwood butter & the sandalwood oil . I actually use up my balm on my eyebrows now , it keeps them soft and well shaped , i don't like trimming my eyebrows as i like the full natural look , so I've got plenty of spare beard balm that will still be effective for something.

I just got the Montego Butter - It's GD fantastic. I needed something with a little hold. I had previously only used Oil in the my beard. It smells super good too.

I'll vouch for his beard oils. Got his sampler packs, & am LOVING his Orient Express :-) It smells strong n awesome. Plus, the oil is far more effective than the cheap beard oil I'd bought in a Walmart. BB's oils are absorbed much more by the beard hairs. Enjoy.

Curious, in my experience balms don't really stick if I use oil first. Oil also seemed to nullify the hold of balm if I combed it in second. What I find works well is to lightly wipe oil over balm only if I want a sheen while still needing a shaping hold. Otherwise I use oil after a wash and balm the rest of the time.
