You should take pride in the current state of your rule books! Having them from the start and that you have originals, shows your dedication.

Thanks so much! For the most part I do, but my original Basic Rulebook from 1982 is pretty banged up. The cover fell off years ago and the first 3 or 4 pages have separated from the rest. The whole thing is in a makeshift binder thanks to some loose leaf reinforcements. 🤣

Really nice memories come up when I think about the times when we rolled through these books. Dividing the rules step by step is still a good idea from today's perspective and it helped us a lot back then. We didn't have any other references for the roleplaying game, and the progressively more complex rules were a really good way to understand D&D. Of course, we also eagerly awaited the next box because of the ever new magic spells. 😉 The reason we enjoy playing high-level heroes so much is because of the effort made in these releases to lay a good foundation for them. I have to admit that we never got to the Immortal rules - until now! 😁 You make great content! I always love coming back to your channel!

Thank you so much! I feel the same way about this rule set (as you can probably tell 😁). It was such a treat to get the new box, expand the game world and learn about new magic. (BTW one of my favorite spells is Reverse Gravity) I really hope you enjoy the Immortal rules - they hold a special place in my heart.

@@raisegamefully We always have a lot of fun with Reverse Gravity. According to one of our house rules, this only works with great difficulty on dwarves (they're attached to earth), which also leads to ridiculous moments when the hero party is affected and everyone takes off except our dwarf, who literally gets stuck. Once he tried to pull the others up to him with a rope... It didn't end well.

That’s fantastic! I like the rule. Sounds like it makes for some good role playing.

@@raisegamefully Over time, we established some house rules that we wanted to use to make our dwarves and elves better, for example. Regarding the dwarves, there are rules that they have their own magic resistance for some things. Namely all magic that removes them from natural ground because they are connected to the element earth. The rule says: there is a base resistance of 20% +2% per level of experience. For older/more powerful heroes it will be more difficult than easy, which also led to many interesting situations in our game round.

To fix the Thief I just gave them a 5% boost to the Thief Abilities

Basic Expert Companion Master Immortal Saved you a minute... Maybe? Anyway the rest of the video is actually really fun to learn, I just don't like the zoom meeting feeling 😂
