WHAT IS BETTER THAN BOONEDOX LANDING GEAR?

Ryan, in the past, the older kayaks experienced cracking problems where the Boonedox mounting bolts went into the kayak's body. Have you noted any similar problem with the new Nucanoe Unlimited? Great video! Thanks!!

Not at all. The weight of the wheels is distributed across 2 rails. I have the boonedox on the Hobie as well and no problem. Hobie has the backing plates. But the unlimited everything is on the rails. They are only technically rated for I think 100 pounds but I am well over that. Worse that will ever happen is the screws will pull out of rails.

Can you swap the legs to change the weight distribution? I mean if you put the left leg to the right side and the right leg to the left side. Currently, the wheels are tilted backward, but if you swap them, they will point forward, which will shift the balance point closer to the middle of the seat area.

Not designed to be done that way. Never tried and no need to. I been using for over 7 years.

Just tried out my Boonedox Groovy Gear landing system today. Will give the new wheels a look as they seem to make sense. I have a question about the NK 300. Mine pulls to starboard really hard at above 50% power, so much so that my leg gets tired holding my heel down on the NuCanoe foot steering. Have you had the same problem? I can't see any reason for this. Motoris mounted level and both motor head and shaft fin seem to be aligned.

Yes you have to hold the pedal to keep boat straight. The force of the motor moves the foot control steering. It almost needs a lock on the pedal to hold it. It’s normal with this setup. It’s more like 75 percent throttle and up that I really need to hold the pedal hard to keep straight. But when I am at normal speeds, trolling and working edge it’s no problem. When I am going that hard and fast it’s only moving from spot to spot. But running 5.3 mph it’s very comfortable and not that hard to hold.

@@rjmfishtales Thanks. Good to know it's not just my setup. Man , I love this boat! First time out a center console hooked around in front of me to pick up his fallen skier. Waves came over my bow dumping what looked like 2 or 3 inches of water on my deck. The Tarpon drain system shed it all in seconds.

@johndavis5662 yes it is my favorite to date. Love the Hobie but it is still falling second place for me right now. Yes the water drains out of the Nucanoe fast.

Excuse my ignorance, but does the kayak have to be elevated in order to use the landing gear? I car top my kayak so I slide it down and set it on the ground. I’ve always used a cart but with a motor and battery it’s not easy. Thanks for the info.

Yes. You pick up one side at a time and install the wheel. So I recommend doing that before putting your gear on the kayak so it’s lighter. When you come back for the day the kayak is sitting in the water so it’s lighter to pick up and also the back end is sitting in water so it’s kind of elevated already to put in the wheels. The wheels store in the kayak when on the water or you can take back to your vehicle. I have a truck or use my trailer so as I slide off truck or if I don’t wet launch trailer I just and slide it off the trailer I put wheels in the kayak before I put on the ground. It’s very simple and have been using Boonedox Landing gear for 8 years now.

Hey buddy how you doing man ? Good video buddy. I have heard good & bad things about the Boonedox Landing gear. I know you have use them for a very very long time & never had a problem with them. I do like how easy it is to move the kayak around. I know that you will have it on every kayak you own man. I hope you are having a good weekend buddy & thanks you for sharing this video buddy. P.S. I was cool to see you wearing your flip flops 🩴 man my favorite footwear man. I was also in charleston early Delivering a load man. I wish I had time to see if we could have met up somewhere for a lil bit since I was that close to you. Even Treated you & your family out to eat for a lil bit man. I really would like to Meet you in person man. You look really good man for someone who use to be big man. I would love to be your size man. Being a chubby fat dude has it Challenges especially with me having muscle and Nerves damage in my feet 🦶. Be safe out there on the water man.

those are c tug wheels..i have a c tug love the wheels hate trying to balance it..but 3 hundred bucks for landing gear..ouch

Still worth every penny of the ease. Throw the wheels in and go to the water. Done. No strapping and balancing. If you fish more than 2 times a month worth the investment.

@@rjmfishtales I hear ya I go more than 3 times a week when the weather is right..maybe i can find a set on market place thats how i got my kayak for less then half price..lmao

@kennedybj1 possibly. They have ones for track mounted and for other kayak models. Just go on Boonedox website and see what one you need for your particular setup. Happy shopping. Trust me you will like them.
