BTS has gotten a black ocean before. In their MV We Are Bulletproof the Eternal, they show Jungkook getting swallowed by a black ocean. It was traumatizing for them. I mean, all fandoms have bad behavior sometimes but ARMY has a couple of times turned their light sticks different colors for artists. When BTS performed at the same concert as Billie Eilish, ARMYs turned their lightsticks green for her. So the lightsticks have been used positively too.

During a concert boy groups fans gave to SNSD "X" with their light stick while they were in stage... the members didn't notice it and thought they were making hearts and made their performance with more strength and enthusiasm. My poor heart 💔 Girls Generation has been one of the most hated groups (they have been the only group to have an anti-fancafe) and loved in the history of kpop... See how they became a legendary group after all that, make me so proud.

It wasn't a blackocean for bigbang, we usually turn off the light stick and use tge other light stick or the ringlights. Cause bb concert lasts for 4 hrs or more.

They can't literally disrespect EXO cause they can't deny EXO's Contribution to Korea. Although some of us got worried, we still believed that no matter what, EXO will continue to deliver their best to us loyal fans. Also, having a short battery life of the lightsticks are plausible but I personally think that they just used that as an excuse seeing as EXO's lightsticks/pharynx can last at least 6hours and 59 minutes. So what more lame excuse can they have, right?

I remember during Lotte family concert when almost all the fans present were ARMYs yet they still respected all the performing artist and also keeping their light stick on the whole time. Esp when Kim Bum Soo sang his song I miss You and all the ARMYs started singing with him

I've been a Kpop fan for a long time (2010ish). 1 thing I think the video fails to mention is the Korean Seniority Relationship. It applies to everything in Korea including fandoms. So if an older and stronger fandom tells you do to do something they are going to do it. Especially during the 2nd generation. For fear that it could also happen to their group. Im not trying to defend some of the fandoms who participated, some fandoms were so small they had no choice but to follow. In the 2008 Black Ocean of SNSD 1 thing to point out is SNSD is in the same company as Super Junior whose fandom (E.L.F.) started the whole thing. If you have the chance to dig deeper into the Kpop culture I suggest looking into the things from the 1st and 2nd generation. Then compare them the Kpop culture from the 3rd and 4th generation. Y'all will notice differences

But there’s also a loooot of fandom that actually appreciate and support each other despite what this video showed, like for example today GOT7 and KAI From EXO both released an album + a track and none of the fandom hated on each other like people were enjoying both and streaming both that’s really pleasing to see, I guess it also depends on the target audience of these groups.
