I feel really sad about it. My son has had an account for a year or so longer than me. We've shared advice and grown our accounts together. He went to uni and we kept chatting about it. For the past year or so we've commented that it's not a gl meta any more and unless you spend on new stuff, you'll reach a ceiling very quickly, especially in gac. We are occasional spenders. Yesterday my son contacted me saying the update has removed the last bit of fun he felt he was having in game and may quit. I can't say I blame him but, should he leave, one of my main motivations for playing will be gone.

What we need is simplified updates: collect all rewards in one button, SIM all dailies/battles in one button, TW restructuring, a new GAC restructuring, a sandbox for testing units with all skills enabled for no crystal costs, tournaments against friends or guilds. Some issues I have with this ERA update: 1. Why was this released during the double drop event? 2. You can only get your rewards from completing your dailies if you complete all 7 quests. 3. The character quest progress completion is annoying seeing that you need a certain number of shards to claim the reward. 4. Galactic Challenges seems to be a waste of time. 5. Another currency to have to keep track of. 6. Currently feels like it is geared towards pay-to-play players.

Worst part is the Character Quest progress bars fill even if you do not have the shards. So it looks like you actually got something done and then the reward is unreachable. Kinda like putting in the work and not getting paid for it. So it is yet another psychological trick to persuade people to spend in a rather questionable fashion. Same with Episode Quests showing full bars with the Unlock button. Yikes.

The past couple of months I have been able to finally red crate the gc for the majority of the challenges, or get a tier or maybe two below. Granted, this has been the first new challenge, but my r 5 team couldn’t get through the challenge tier of gear 12. It seems much more difficult, which keeps me from getting rewards. Again, maybe it is just this challenge, but it really feels like a kick to the nuggets on top of the changes to the game. Like a, “see what happens when you don’t pay to play, Larry.”

Something I see that people seem to miss when defending this update is how you really can’t afford to miss a few days throughout a span of weeks or else you risk not completing the Episode Track. Why is the Galactic Challenge feats change such a big deal to me? In the past I would frequently be able to complete at least two or three feats at higher tiers, netting me good rewards. Even if I missed a day or two of daily rewards from not playing due to personal/life situations coming up, I could reasonably rely on Galactic Challenge to keep my progress consistent and on track as long as I logged in and participated within the timeframe of the most recent Galactic Challenge being available. With this new change to Galactic Challenge however, it’s no longer reliable to count on completing two feats all the time. This is because now the only two F2P-accessible feats are dependent on factions and rng. Most early-mid game accounts do not have Jawa team, Tusken team, or Gungan team geared up or at relics. So you can kiss that faction feat goodbye if you only have gear four Tuskens. Beyond that, the rng factor comes into play with feats such as 400% turn meter reduction. You not only need the right speed on your characters but you also need the AI for the opposing team to choose certain abilities and attacks in order for you to successfully reduce 400% turn meter. It’s demoralizing having to go through a Galactic Challenge and get zero feats completed despite completing the battle. If I don’t get 400% turn meter reduction on my first attempt, I will not feel motivated to carry out further attempts. In previous Galactic Challenges, I usually felt motivated to try out different lineups because I had already received my rewards for the “Complete the battle” feat. TL;DR - The new Galactic Challenge setup makes it harder to complete as many feats as you would have previously, which forces you to work that much harder in all other game modes/activities to make up for it. Otherwise you will most likely not max out the Episode Track, missing out on the amount of rewards you would have gotten prior to this update.

Doing the math on it, by the end of the 4 weeks if you only complete the 3-star marquee character feats in the GCs, do all your dailies everyday, and complete all 28 Episode Quests, you will reach 232,475 Episode Points by the end of the Episode… you only have enough to reach level 46. (this is assuming you are unable to do any other feats in the GCs)

Showing me rewards that I will never get is infuriating. It makes the experience of playing game miserable. Instead of having fun I just feel frustrated. Then on top of that they are screwing us with the GC rewards. The GAC matchmaking is miserable. Conquest is annoying, The PO made my fleet I spent 6 months building useless in fleet arena so I am losing crystals everyday. They promised Sims on events but nothing yet. I am struggling to find a positive thing in the game currently. Why am I still playing it? 🤷‍♂️

I am right here along with you. it is like any change they make to this game has to have a more negative outcome than positive. the GAC change they make it nice to not have to get your crystals from squad arena, but it is mostly negative because of opponent complete mismatches and people gaming the system that makes trying to play it completely not fun anymore. the conquest changes were just completely negative where they nerfed energy regen and added even more battles. the change to raids made it where you could buy specific gear, but wiped out so much of the rewards from doing the old raids even if you didn't get pieces you needed you could at least break them down for relic materials and such. fleet arena has become even more miserable than ever with the Levi change than I have seen it in quite a long time all because they decided to make a problem ship for no reason. all this and the one good thing to do some quality of life fixes is the things they didn't even bother doing to make this miserable update somewhat bearable. it is honestly baffling to me how this company can't make a good decision ever. they take too much advantage of people that love the franchise by just seeing how much they can get away with until people quit.

The thing that really pissed me off was the omicrons, the gear and other items we got from the GC’s weren’t the best deal unless you were red crating and getting kyros, but the omis apply to everyone. For CG to have the audacity to call this a qol update to “reduce our session time” and then cut our omicron inflow in half if not worse is insane. I run two f2p accounts and both are very omicron heavy, (traya done, going for SK, Dash, and prolly an MM. Second account just finished omi geos, working on Iden, and questioning farming Baylan) and I can assure you this is going to take an insane hit on the speed of those omicrons. This whole thing is insane and I seriously hope they listen to the community on this one.

the thing that upset me is that finishing the galactic challenge no longer counts as a feat, only completing it with the required team. so if you dont have a team of rebel fighters that can take on an overpowered relic 7 team you are SoL. i couldn't do it on either of my accounts. free to play account only got 1 or 2 feats and couldn't go past the gold gear tier. so it's unlikely that i'll be able to finish the track by the end of the month it looks like

If you were getting Red/Gold crate every time before, you probably had those teams, if you weren't getting Red/Gold crate before, you won't get it now I find it hard to believe every F2P player was red/gold crating every single GC CG never promised that everyone would get max rewards, they just said it'd be possible and it is....for the 5-10% who have those teams Not saying it doesn't feel bad, and there's definitely ways in which the track can be improved, but I really don't think it's as bad as many players are making out The main issue seems to be how ludicrously better it is to buy the pass, thus making the game feel more like a subscription to get ahead. That's what battle passes are for in mobile games and, tbh, I'm surprised it's taken 9 years for SWGOH to implement one but then again CG never were very quick on the uptake If they wanted to have GC like this though, I'd have put the "faction" quest on the Premium Track and the "Beat the Battle" on the F2P track, I think that one change would have stopped a lot of torch-lighting on this one

I did all the other stuff and then did the fight with the team on lower tiers to get gold. It was annoying sometimes but not to bad overall. Now imagine you have jawas, thermals, pass and huyang at 7 stars. You might be able to do the thermal feat and the jawas on lower tier, but normally you had the: finish this fight feat or a finish the fight without a leader in the leader spot feat. These are all missing now. I cannot tell you exactly how much better or worse this system is but it FEELS so terrible compared to before. That is only one point. I could mention a whole lot more but i already commented about these in other places and i dont wanna spend more energy in being mad

You don’t actually need to hit end of episode rewards, in my opinion. Tier 43 gets you all the omicrons and kyros and most of the slicing mats.

The problem is that the update technically is better when it comes to rewards, but there's two issues: 1. That is only IF you can compete in the GC's enough to be able to win a few feats. Right now we have horrible feats that aren't as accessible to F2P players than non-F2P, so now your only source for Episode currency is the eventual quests and the daily chest. That's it, nothing more. If you still happen to miss a day or unable to do a quest (unlikely at the moment), that currency is never obtainable. There is no way to make it up, and there's no way to casually complete the feats anymore. 2. Everything relies on math that is done by 3rd party sources and not CG themselves because CG was way too vague about how everything works (and they dropped this all at once too, not over the course of the year). My confidence should NOT be determined by someone else in the community because how am I to trust the system if the developers can't tell me themselves? We've already lost people in our guild that flat out quit and more are willing to do so. CG ripped the bandaid off and decided to say the quiet part out loud by introducing FOMO to basic progression. Most people hate conquest, and now conquest is becoming the main game progression. They aren't learning what people are upset about until years after the issue is already mellowed out. We just now got GL tickets changed. Now the FOMO is right in our face that we can't do basic things without the game saying we need to spend money in some form. This isn't taking into account that there are already tons of monetization in the game that got annoying recently but weren't going to hurt the game overall. November has been a horrible month overall for SWGOH this year, and it doesn't help that it's the anniversary where the game should be at it's best. But fleets are broken and bugged, bugs still in the raid, AB changes, GC and Episode progression reworking the game, marquee galore, GAC squish and matchmaking ruining the mode. Defenders will say things are fine and that we should stop complaining because this new Era system is "better", but if the system is presented horribly, no wonder people are going to be confused and upset. I could sell you the cure to cancer but if I'm a bumbling idiot and make it seem like a scam, no one is going to want it.

For $20 to me those rewards are not even worth it. If it was for 3 months i might buy it. I'm at about 11.9M GP FTP except a few LSB and some crystal packs. The FTP rewards from the episode track does not have enough rewards especially omis. Also the progression takes forever. If I dont get to that next tier of episode points by the end of the refresh to buy the 2 omis in the shop I'm going to be heated. It's cool to see what rewards you can get from the marquee but i dont buy any of them. However, the pay to win in GC sucks. Cough cough complete the battle. The more they make their game pay to win the faster it will die. CG is screwing up the Assault Battles, GAC, omis, releasing more marquees, etc. We've already seen a player base decline. This may be the final nail in the coffin. CG there are other games that exist other than just SWGOH and most games come to an end eventually; with your pay to win model plus it being much more expensive than other games, you're slamming your foot on the gas pedal as you're eagerly focused on driving off a 2,000 foot cliff. As much as we all love Star Wars, it is sad to see that you are trying to kill your own game.

Math is a thing but practice is another thing, you as a f2p need to basically do most if not all the dailies, and you have to complete the 2 CG challenges to get there, if you are a mid game f2p and dont have every faction built to complete those factions challenges, or dont have a good squad to complete some specific challenges like TM removal, you might as well be fucked because you are definitely loosing some of the points you need to get to lvl 50, and even if you have all the things necessary to complete everything as a f2p AhnaldT himself said it, it would be harder to get to the point to break even, because before it was a one and done thing, you didnt had to worry to much, now you gotta do the dailies and you gotta manually buy the things in the new shipment store, if u miss a week you are missing a lot

The grind doesn't bother me too much just means it's gonna take me even longer to get the stuff that I was working towards. I made my account when the game launched and had been off and on since. This time I have a different goal that would keep me on longer so I'm not too worried about it

The big problem as you said is CG dangling carrots in front of f2p players and the toxic mentality it creates. A big chunk of the points comes from the quests that come out daily and completing 7, assuming everyone does all their dailies EVERY day and does all the missions we'll reach tier 37 and then there's what you can (barely) do with GCs to get any further. Overall rewards will be slightly better (15 consistent omis/4 weeks for early game) and slightly worse (definitely missing character shards you can't afford in episode shop and squad arena currency) but not worth the aggressive paywall reminders and extra tasks while removing the ones that involved some fun teambuilding imo

I will probably just finish out grinding for Jedi Knight Luke because that’s been a big long term goal of mine predating me getting serious about the game. For the marquee battles you can replay ones you have already completed. It takes 24 hr to refresh them though. It also applies to the Sabine marquee event too. So if you’re FTP you can just replay tiers 1 and 2 3 times

Personally, I don't think it's as bad as people think, but there are some negatives for those with mid and above sized rosters. 75% of the previous GC rewards are basically gotten now through Dailies/weekly. the other 25% are from GCs. So if you've not been reaching T-7 chest, it's great for you. If you've been getting to around t7, more then likely you'll be able to do enough of the F2P GC feats and get higher (I got T5 on both and got about 4k points). Before the change I was getting around t6-t8 GC rewards, depending on the challenge. So who was I to expect I'd suddenly get red/gold chest reward levels without any change on my part? I'm getting right about where I was before. To get the new pass maxed out, I'd need to get T9 complete for both f2p feats. (which is what you'd have to do to get Gold/Red). It's bad though because now if I slip up on daily chores I loose out. The GCs are less interesting, less time investment. As you put it, you are putting less effort into it. Having GC rewards now behind a daily requirement hurts those who play more casually or have real life happen. They can't recover because 3600 points go away every day. Yes, you can do the other dailies/weekly, but thats only a part of the 37 levels from dailies. TL:DR Getting same rewards as last time, just more customized. GC less interesting. Daily diligence to get rewards I used to get is annoying and lame.

All the calculations I've seen are for over a month, but the time frame is actually 4 sets of 7 days(probably). If you don't take into account that the shop resets, then people could miss half the rewards at times. So when someone says you can skip GC they are potentially half wrong if you are not buying the Pass.

19:30 you're not getting less crystals Nooch, we used to get 65 total from daily quests. Now that number is already built into the chest + you still get that 5-250 crystal chance on top of the 65. So when you open the daily chest you might be getting 70 crystals (65 + 5), 75 crystals (65 +10) and so on

here is the problem tho. many people do not complete all the daily quests every single day. before you could get most of the crystals by just doing a few quests now you gotta do ALL of them every single day or else you miss out on ALL crystals.

There are a lot of things to complain about in this update for F2P players but I don't think the losing a ton of annoying to do Daily Quests offering 2-10 crystals each in favour of 7 easy to do flexible ones that reward you at the end is one if I'm honest

Galactic Challenge sucks booty now. I don't have half of the squads that it "needs" so I'm going to be getting so many less rewards. At least before I could use a decent squad to at least get the gold crate or close. CG sucks, but I guess we all know that. They're just getting really good at reaffirming it. I'm never, ever going to get a pass just out of sheer spite and I hope many more do the same.

I'm not f2p, but I am not spending money on the EP/etc. I also don't have all the specific teams you need for GC's, nor do I spent money on Marquees. 1. Completely agree with character quests; they are completely locked behind paywalls. I don't care about most of these characters, maybe if they do more clones I would be interested. 2. Episode pass is really hard for f2p, as you said. I'm at level 5, and that's solely because I've done all of the f2p episode quests and was able to do the rebel fighters. 3. GC is almost completely inaccessible for f2p now, and even less accessible for f2p players that don't have the right teams. How it was before was great! You could get SOMETHING out of each iteration, even if you didn't have the specific teams. I have 1.5mil GP, and that's frankly because of 3 LSBs aside from my own grinding, and I cannot do the tuskens or the next jawas. I thankfully was able to do a few of the rebel fighter ones. They need to add back a feat for GC that is as simple as completing the battles. Their first GC 'fix' attempt is horrible. It literally just makes pay to play EVEN WORSE because you get MORE REWARDS. They did NOT make it more accessible!!! sigh. The 3rd one is the worst for me.

Quick fixes they have to make to have players keep playing: 1. Take away character feats. Just add the locked episode points in the marque battles themselves so we dont have to constantly stare at them. 2. Stop "premium" feats/quests from popping up on the screen. It is wuite infuriating to have to look at feats being completed which i cant cash in every time i open the game. 3. Keep the matchmaking of GAC based on skill point for the weekly bracket but change the matchmaking inside of the bracket. In the first round accounts should be matched based on GP inside of the bracket. Still can also apply to round 2. 4. If GC take feets away 1 feet needs to be early game accessible 5. Add inquisitor AB rewards into Reva mission and keep all current AB besides that one. There you go CG. You implement this and keep your paywall but at least dont disrespect most of your player base. Edit: from other games with passes. People are rewarded by playing the game so the free track usually can be fully completed with daily gameplay.

GP based matchmaking didn't work before so why will it work now? CGs whole incentive to even abandon the old system was that people didn't try pushing their rosters further, so they can cash in easy wins from week to week. Why would you even unlock characters or ships that do nothing like the Endurance? It would only be a waste of GP

@@Nic-San I will explain further what I meant. I still believe the matchmaking should take place the way it is for the weekly bracket. So you will still be matched with the same 7 people as before. What I want to change is that in the first round you are matched to the one closest in GP out of the 7 players in your weekly bracket. There will still be the championship round meaning higher GP rosters will have a big advantage. All this does is guarantee that smaller accounts have at least one competitive round each GAC week and less likely to go 0-3 because they faced accounts 3x their GP. In some sense this is a balance between the old and new system.

I bought the pass wanting it to be good for unlocking Ahsoka and getting extra omis and kyro. The gated huyang quests are so annoying. I can only complete 3 and that is after wasting 1200 crystals on a gamble pack with 7 shards. But it doesn't matter anyway because I've got a lot of episode currency I can't spend because the shipment refreshes once a week. I should be having fun completing quests and claiming rewards. I can't imaging if I was playing Fortnite and I bought the pass but they said you need to buy a 300$ skin before you are allowed to finish quests. I'd never buy the battle pass again. Which is probably what I'm going to do if they don't fix it. It feels bad on my free to play account only replacing the omis and kyro, but paying for a slap in the face feels way worse.

They've removed content we had, making the game less rewarding. We're overwhelmed by unclaimable missions and bombarded with ads to spend money. I'm considering an ad-blocker for SWGoH. If we let this slide, it'll only get worse. Eventually, only big spenders will play. Remember, if free players quit, those who spent a lot of money will be the most affected. And if anyone criticizes me for saying this, they should know that I spend money on the game and I feel like I'm losing out with these changes.

Even if the rewards are better, psychologically it just feels bad. With a battle pass I expect quests that I can work on for a week or so. In this pass you get like one f2p quest that you complete immediately then the rest are all paid. It just feels really bad. I don't often spend in games, but when I really clamp down on a game, I like month long (or more) battle passes (preferably cheaper than my WoW subscription...) just for that extra value the premium track can provide. I hope they make some changes, right now I'm not ready to swipe for the premium track. Sidenote: the HY quests are beyond horrible. Let's say they annoy you and you're like screw it, I'll pay to get a 4 star HY, well you still have the 5+ quests staring at you all month. Complete crap. Also - you nailed the community frustration I feel.

Also around 11:30 If I remeber the time Jedi Revan was first event that was impossible for F2P to unlock first time where as previous stuff like Thrawn had enough farm time/double drops for a f2p to unlock but spend for 7*. So people pre farmed rest of OR to aniticpate DRevan, so then CG goes "hey we're adding this new gear called kyrotechs to ease up the bottleneck of stun guns/cuffs" so pay $20 or have a g8 Darth Revan for a month while you farm the gesr

What I can’t understand is that in ALL games that have a form of “episode pass”, all challenges are available to everyone and paying gets you twice as many rewards. Blocking the actual challenges behind a pay wall, you may as well not even bother having a “free” version. I have just over 2m GP F2P and managed to get the first 4 tiers of rebel fighters only by having my relic Rex carry and the rest dying instantly, even then I feel like what was the point as I will see 0 rewards from it and now I have no idea where I can farm really any omicrons from! It’s about perception. Before if I fail to reach a crate in Galactic Challenges, the perception is I just don’t have the team to do the feats. Now half the feats are paywalled and to complete free track it looks like we have nearly max GC. Hopefully there will be more points than we can see right now. Though right now the perception is it’s impossible to finish the free track without getting marquee shards or buying the pass. The track CG promised if a player “engages in Galactic Challenges” we “can expect to complete the Free Track by the end of the Episode”.

The update is trash. The new dailies seem to make it harder to hoard for double drops. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sure felt like I was getting more crystals from dailies. Those crystals pretty much funded refreshes, now not so much. I've found some workarounds, but overall, it's highly frustrating and is more likely to make me stop playing all together than it is to make me pay for reduclous episode passes.

We no longer get the extra 5-200 prize crystals instead we get a flat 75. Which I don't like

My only real problem with it is messing up the GC feats, if they would just put the feats back the way they were, the rewards would be comparable enough. As for whether the BP is worth it? That depends greatly on how much you want the featured character.

I've been a FTP player since day one. I've got 12 million GP and over 100k crystals saved. Recently, I've started to feel like there's too much to do daily in this game. This update tossing even more grinding on top of what is already in the game has me thinking about laying the game down. I'm going to give it one episode and see how I feel after.

I understand everyones concerns Im mad that they took away the 5% for the miniscule kessel rewards. Anyways I just started in September and Im having a lot of fun with the game. Only Battlefront games have kept my attention until I started playing SWGOH. Hopefully we can see some fixes but Im having fun. I think the biggest mistake was locking f2p quests to daily instead of weeklies like the premium pass challenges. If people were given all the quests day one people would not complain as much because they would see progress

While there are definitely improvements to be made around the in your face FOMO and reduced engagement with GC due to removing the default win feat, the complaints around your progress on the F2P account are just wrong when you clearly haven't been doing your dailies (you would be close or at level 3 if you had) and haven't made an attempt at even the lowest levels of the GC (which unfortunately also just happened to be a bad one for you). You say you were getting 2 omicrons a week on average. If you do your dailies and the episode quests you get to level 9. You then only need to get to level 11 from across 2 GCs to get your 3 omicrons from the store. You actually benefit from these changes. The second week would be even better for you because the reward track has an omicron. Furthermore, overtime it will balance out and you can compensate for the GCs that you would normally miss out on by using the currency. F2P players end up with a more stable omicron income.

As someone who actually invests some money in this game, I just refuse to buy the episode pass out of principle, it's really stupid the amount of money it seems you'd have to spend to get anywhere with this, and I'm not investing money in the new character, I prefer to invest money on characters I'm working on/ want to work on for like Gls and stuff, I don't want to invest in a character if the game tries to force me. Also the Gallactic challenge only giving episode points is stupid, I want the crates with gear and omicrons and stuff, and then there's the whole pay wall thing on it too, I don't want to buy a pass every month, not worth it.

To be fair, they are just following the path of many other games in the last 5-10 years that really begun with Fortnite, a "season pass" or "battle pass" where you do challenges to get rewards, but theres also a paid version that allows you to get more cosmetics etc. I feel like the game should stray away from paying for necessary items, but rather cosmetics like every other game does.

The F2P episode pass is a complete failure. It has made me start to consider stopping all Swgoh game play till its fixed.They need to add in a way to get free shards at the beginning of the marquee so that F2P can do the whole list. However that would take intelligence from CG that they lack.

It is actually mathematically impossible to complete the track F2P. EA is really bad at math. Even if you COMPLETELY MAX OUT GC FEATS EVERY SINGLE TIME, you will only reach the 44th tier on the episode track out of 50. 50 levels of 5,000 points each means 250,000 points needed to max out the track. Dailies give you 300 per quest and 1,500 for completing all of them - that’s 3,300 per day for 28 days, or 92,400. GC’s give you 9,525 (it’s only possible to get the first two tiers for the marquee character star feat unless you spend an ungodly amount of gems on the gamble packs, which is not possible F2P), and with 8 GC’s per episode that’s now 168,600 total. Episode quests give 2,000 per quest, one new quest per day, so 56,000 over 28 days. That’s 224,600 total out of the 250,000 needed to max out the episode track, and this is way less fun and more stressful than the old system, and gives worse rewards in comparison to what you used to be able to get unless you’re a brand new account, and significantly widens the gap between F2P and P2W accounts.

I bought this pass, but realized something predatory yesterday: if I don't have a lot of these obscure Factions for the GCs, I could end up not really recieving the intended benefit from the pass, because I won't be progressing far with GCs. I'll have "finish battle with episode pass", which is the dumbest feat ever, and " finish with 4* marquee". If I can't finish the faction or skill feats, then what am I really getting from the pass? I heard Tuskens and Jawas are next, and if that's true, I'm going to be pissed.

They should have added the marquee feats for GC as an additional feat achieve. So leave the 4 normal feats they have, then add additional feats for having an active pass and the marquee.

Of course they want to get everyone to 85 quicker. That then opens up the floodgates to chucking all these paywalls at you. I’m at 1.7GP I’ve bought two LBS and was happy I could get materials worth while from Gat Challenges, now I can’t get them close to that, as I get a currency instead which almost feels meaningless unless I buy the pass…
