Chain piecing can not only save time but it will help keep your work in order, and the sewing machine likes it too.

Great tip on using an"end piece". I do chain piercing but always just started with a scrap. Thanks, as usual, informative even for experienced sewers!

I learned to sew on notebook paper and circles drawn on typing paper. Then it was chain piecing squares for my mother and grandmother to make quilts. Still love the chains.

Ty you awnsered my question on where the needle should be
@beverleybrowning34805 жыл бұрын
Oh thought I'd add that my machine is sometimes tricky so I have to keep the "leader" scrap under the presser foot next to the needle & snug it up to the piece I'm going to sew, otherwise the fabric gets pulled down & stuck. Also a tip: if I'm chaining fabric that is piecedI I like to use the tip of my seam ripper to hold down the seams in the right direction. It will fit right under the presser foot, even along my 1/4" foot.

Thanks Laura for another great tip, even for experienced quilters. Love the material, is it part of a new quilt?

At 5:55 the thought came to my mind of "Silent Wind Chimes", or a quick and easy project using colorful scraps to hang as an unusual decoration for a party/event and afterwards you can use them in a scrappy quilt. But practically speaking, I like to keep a stack of 2.5 inch squares to sew together as my leaders and enders and then I'm well on my way to making blocks for another quilt.

That is a great tip . I will use it for other thing to. As I don’t make quilts 🥴. Lining up and cutting the squares is very complicated , I don’t think 🤔 I can get them to line up ...😢 sad but true ...🌹❤️🌹❤️

It looks like you did not press between the two pieces at 4:55- 5:22. Just finger press to lay bottom seam one way and upper piece the opposite way?

What machine is that? I am fascinated by all the lights - are reflected from above or under the extension piece?

Avril Kalungwah - the machine she used is a Bernina, not sure of the model number.
