China has scaled up its nationally determined contributions and aims to peak its carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060, injecting strong impetus into global climate actions as well as green and low-carbon development worldwide. I don’t know about the US but the EU is working on the so-called Green Deal which is pretty similar to what China is doing. The carbon emissions trading system has been in place since 2005 already in the EU. They actually plan to change it so that companies who have carbon emmisions always have to pay and only non-emission companies do not have to pay. The green deal is also meant to stimulate companies to use and produce green energy. There are also several reforestation projects ongoing including one that intends to plant 3 billion trees. Also all countries that signed the Paris agreement are working towards reaching net zero emissions by 2050. So don’t worry, China is not the only one suffering from climate change and trying to change!

@@GeorgeMartinus as I said, no clue about what the US is currently doing about climate changes. I do know that Trump probably didn’t contribute to solving the issue considering his standpoint on climate change. But Trump was Republican, I believe the Democrats and thus Biden are more aware of climate change. The argument that Trump left the Paris agreement makes little sense, I mean Obama did sign it before Trump. So I guess the US their actions depend on their president but that would be similar for every country. If China changed there president I am sure some things would also change in their climate policy.

That's the type of change it would take to start reversing climate change. It would be things like stopping the usage of heating and cooling, because it utilizes a lot of energy. Then there is the issue of getting every country on board. Countries like China do not care about the climate. It cares about GDP. If it means destroying the climate to achieve more growth, they'll do it.

Is it because they don't have human rights that they don't talk about the total amount per capita? If you count by country, how many times do some small countries with tens of millions of people have to surpass others to destroy the earth? Some countries always look like hypocrites. It is clear that the per capita is much higher than people, but they always like to stand on the moral commanding height and accuse other later developing countries. Do these people really want to protect the environment? Are you sure it is not to restrict the development of industry in backward countries? Pls talk per capita, the west has polluted the world for centuries, you should cover the biggest pollution provider, the US, what have they done. This is a world issue, all countries need to work together to achieve that, China certainly a major player, however, the west should also be responsible in a fair manner.

In fact, US's CO2 emission is about the half of amount from 1/4 the population. Which means the ratio of Emission : Population is about twice compare to China. Well, is there any reason to blame the largest factory for emission of CO2? , My South Neighbour and also ourselves, since we're 2nd in the world next to the US.
