can you breed two Chondro positive cattle together. if the bull and the cow are chondro positive will they still produce? Or does one have to be negative for it to work for breeding?

So the short answer is yes of course you could breed two together… the long answer is a little more complicated. When you breed two together that have the chondro gene, there is a chance that you end up with a “bulldog calf.” What that means is that the calf will be deformed, and the pregnancy is usually aborted before the cow carries to full term. Because of that, some people have an opinion that two positive animals should not be bred. However, the other side of the equation is that you will always end up with a positive calf, if you breed two positive adults together… (I think) as long as the calf is not deformed. When breeding positive and negative, you will end up with a 50-50 chance of having a positive animal. Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
