What is Cossacks 3 - An Overview / Review

Cossacks 3 is an RTS developed by GSC Game World. It's a great game for fans of Age of Empires, Total War, and the 17-18th Centuries of European history. If you're wondering what Cossacks 3 is, how it plays, what scale the game has, and how the battles and base building works, this is an overview of the game to cover just that.
After briefly discussing the Cossacks 3 campaign, I showcase a few different factions in action, in-game. The game has a great variety of unit types, and the art is greatly different between cultures, and this combined mechanical and visual difference creates a great reason to keep going back for more.

Exelent elocution, speech flow, very informative and fairly objective, I am not often proposed recomendations as worthy as this one ! Count me on your ship cat'n. And yes, I would love to see gameplay videos about Cossacks. I have yet to found a channel that propose a satisfactory content on that game, and you might just be the one !

Wow, I never knew about this series but it actually looks really good. I've always loved Age of Empires but the combat can be clumsy and the pathing can get kind of silly in "formations", but I've played it forever and just learned to play around it. It looks like the difference between these games in terms of combat could be the difference between Brood War and Starcraft 2 in terms of unit responsiveness and overall fluidity. I'm sure people will have something to say about the semi-sponsored nature of this video, but this is a game I'll be keeping an eye on as it (hopefully) continues to improve. Would absolutely love to see a Let's Play or even just a stream of this, would be interesting to see the base building in action!

I think I'll be doing a Let's Play or at least a few skirmish battles just to show the game in real-time. It is very slowly paced, but sometimes I find myself in the mood for just that kind of game. Regarding the semi-endorsed nature of the video - to be honest, I can only give my honest opinion, and hope that viewers trust me.

So i wanted to get into some sort of rts for a while now, i briefly played a couple of rts games as a kid but was hopeless at them. i see that cossacks is on sale right now and im wondering if its worth picking up considering im new to rts games in general, if not what alternative would you suggest? Cossacks is good fun, and I don't know if you ever played Age of Empires 2, but the HD edition is definitely worth picking up if you want to get yourself excited for the new Age of Empires that just got announced. Definitely one of my favourites.

Mainly the scale of the battles, I would say. What you see in this video is nothing compared to how big it can get. I'll try and put a compilation or a skirmish video up soon that showcases a match from start to finish!

It absolutely is! I think it might even be more of an HD remake than a sequel, but I can't remember the campaign in the first game.

I don't know. in 2016 having a cannon unit that drives and shoots without a crew seems a little bit cheap. I played age of empires back in the day and it seems that the game does not have that super micro approach as starcraft, but compared to any total war title it just seems too goofy especially when it pretends to have some historical perspective. building design seems really cool though. I don't know if it's just me but extra speed that you turn on sometimes makes me dizzy. you did it some times in your early vids on warhammer like in siege battles. it just makes it hard to focus on your speech and what really happens on the screen. well enough whining I must be getting old😊

Haha thanks for the feedback! I try to avoid the high-speed as much as possible, but these games are so slow, I wouldn't be able to show anything if i went at real-time. The game isn't without it's flaws, that's for sure. And ironically, the day after I released this video was the first time I faced a crash. But it's fun to play, especially if you like slower, more drawn out engagements. Though that's certainly not for everybody =D!

I didn't mean that it was wrong all the time. if I want slow pace I play turnbased. like heroes or age of wonders or civ. that really takes amazing amount of time just to finish a small map😆 congrats on hitting 10 thousand subscribers! I joined at 2-3 thousand so it's a pretty good growth! wish you more!

Owned the original. Looks like a 'clone' (to be expected) of AoE and even Rise of Nations. Guess the issue comes down to underlying mechanics, and how well the various factions have flavour/play significantly differently. Interesting comment about the AI; I found AI in Rise of Nations a real problem, even though I liked how the global campaign worked in terms of the 'Risk' type 'board' and tactical advantages based on special resources and development of regions on the map. I hate how Total War simply allows the AI to cheat outrageously to the point equal tier units get roflstomped simply because at the higher difficulties their stats are effectively those of higher tiers. Lazy design IMO. Still, $20 seems very reasonable for some fun. Thanks for the review. Some interesting stuff covered. Cheers

It's absolutely in the vein of AoE, AoM, Rise and Empire Earth (god I miss Empire Earth). I think the scale helps this game stand out a bit, and I've always been a fan of the series. I'm still trying to nail the AI down - it could just be imperfect build orders by myself, or it could be that the AI is cheating. I hope to find a conclusive answer soon, that's for sure.

I played the previous installment in the early 2000's, and the problem is that this new game should be called a "remastered edition" of cossacks 2. It adds nothing new compared to 2 or even 1.

All I wanted to know was about the controls. Like I just learned how to play AOE for the first time a few weeks ago, and the controls were really clunky. I am high level SC2 player, and you have the ability to give units multiple orders with the shift button. The controls in SC2 are just so much more advanced. I heard rumors that this game is exactly the same as the original with no actual changes other than graphics. But I have no confirmation or information about if the controls were updated.

What are you on about? Age of empires has more sophisticated controls than starcraft, including stances, guarding and formations. And has always supported waypoints.
