What a super helpful video loaded with awesome information! There’s nothing I can think of that could be added cuz you nailed it!! 👏🥳👏 It would be fun to read comments of where people store their wax based on location. I’m in Minnesota where heat and humidity are an issue for half the year. My storage of choice is Sterilite’s Wide 3 Drawer Unit since they are not air tight when closed. I store similar scent categories together as seen in your previous stash video, and keep them in my basement where it is always cold, dark, and dry. Though MN basements can get humid in the spring/summer, I always have my furnace fan running which keeps it dry. If needed, a dehumidifier would also do the trick! Again, such a great video addition for the wax community!!

We have hot, humid summers but everyone’s central air is running in their homes. I have a finished basement & keep stored wax there. Great video Robyn! I do love how scentsy wax in general has such a long shelf life!
@RobynH Жыл бұрын
Scentsys shelf life is super impressive, by far the best I’ve found over the years. Many brands will go off or lose scent after a couple years but overall Scentsy stays good for many years with good storage!

What’s suggestion when there’s no central air. I’m leaving Australian summer this year to head to the U.S. and don’t want them to all melt in my room while I’m away 😂😢

Hi Robyn, amazing tips to live by. I store my scentsy wax in the Rubbermaid drawers, i found to my nose that vanilla bean butter cream gingerbread did not age well, after stocking up on that one and just recently warming it i found to my nose it turned to smell like curry. So sadly i threw all the bars in the garbage. Thanks for sharing and take care.
@RobynH Жыл бұрын
Oh no, that’s disappointing. I’ve got that one Clubbed and will have to go sniff my older bars - Scentsy does have a spice note that reads as curry to my nose, but I haven’t smelled it in Gingerbread Buttercream before. Will have to go give my bars a sniff!
@mindinemethi6167 Жыл бұрын
@@RobynH hi Robyn, the curry note comes through a little on cold, however on warm to my nose it comes across as curry, I did have that one clubbed but since have taken it out, I wanted at least 15 bars cause that one was a family favorite last year among other's, arctic kiss ages well and mix that with sugar a whole new level of goodness, but like you said, everyone's nose will read different and how true that is.

Great video, Robyn! I live in a very dry climate which I think helps my wax keep longer. Just anecdotally, I have noticed that more of my newer bars tend to get juicier faster than some of my older bars 🧐 It makes me wonder if there has been some kind of change to the formula over the years. Thank you for the informative video! 💜

Such an interesting video and very informative Robyn .I find I occasionally get sent older bars with my club orders and sometimes even with the current bars they can be older than you’d think. This explains why sometimes a bar I thought smelt a certain way has changed since I first warmed it …I’ve never yet had a bar go bad on me or been sent a bad bar so again goes to show how well Scentsy bars hold up over time . I store them lying down and I also date every bar I get and warm up older stock as soon as I can. I didn’t realise about the citrus , floral scents etc not curing which is really helpful to know ..I think vanilla barnwood will be a good bar for curing although I swear I’m getting a lemon note in it..I think it was you who said they got lemon too. Excellent video …thank you so much for sharing …really enjoyed 😊
@RobynH Жыл бұрын
I do get a lemon note in Vanilla Barnwood - I predict that’ll mellow and smooth a bit over time and the vanilla and woodsy tones will get richer. I can’t wait to try that one in 6 months or so!

This was an interesting video, Robyn. I’ve definitely discovered that some age well and others just get funky. This helps to understand why. Both Huckleberry Clementine and Almond Croissant got cannabis-y over time for me. If only we did ‘get new bars consistently’ in our club! 😜
@RobynH Жыл бұрын
Truth - in theory they’re supposed to be fresh bars but I think that varies widely. That’s so sad about your Almond Croissant - Huckleberry Clementine does the same thing to me though.

Great video-I’m a perfume enthusiast, along with wax, and so much conversation about curing/oxidizing/macerating occurs in both of these worlds. My wax lives in an opaque sideboard in the cool part of a climate controlled living room for just this reason!

Super helpful, share this video with over a dozen people I think might benefit from the information, also, somethings, well, probably most things, do have a time after which they’re going to loosen, even if it’s a Wood or vanilla. For instance, I had a bar of vanilla sweet it was at least 11 or 12 years old, And, the smell was nice, but it didn’t throw, hardly at all, and a freshly poured bar did pretty well. Oh, dictation is not cooperating, I have a half a bar of satin sheets that’s probably from 2011 and I’m afraid to try to warm it, because it’s all I have, and it probably isn’t going to throw at all.
@RobynH Жыл бұрын
Yes I’d say good chance that Satin Sheets won’t throw - it might still smell ok but likely won’t have the strength behind it. If you do warm it, maybe hang onto a cube to sniff on a bad day 😉

Hi, just subscribed, per Elizabeth's recommendation, very informative. I recently got 5 bars of White Sands bars, hopefully they'll stay nice?

I can confirm that one ages well, I had a bar that was several years old and it did soften - the florals gave way a bit to the vanilla tones but it was beautiful aged!

My mom rarely changes her wax, and has had the same bars in her basket for a decade at least. Her bar of Apple Press has original Scentsy packaging with the little stars, it's completely full. I have taken to changing her wax when I visit. Her Luna bars are almost white but still perform well. Apple Press I just cracked open and use 2 cubes and it did fine, despite it's age. Her 2019 bars of Central Park Pralines are about to go off, I told her to change the wax daily for the next week to finish it, it smells ok for a minute then just burnt. She has a bar of Icicles and Evergreen from when it was Scent of the month, that is losing it's pine smell. It's a full bar, she hates tree smells. Last Christmas it smelled normal, 3 days ago I checked it and it smells like apples. She likes it now and will be using it this winter. She got a 2nd bar in the flash sale bundle and said she will put it in the closet for 3 years so it will smell nice like her other one. LOL.

LOL at your mom for your mom waiting on Icicles and Evergreen until it morphs into an unrecognizable scent 😂. I’m not a fan of that one myself, so I’ll have to take a page from her book and hang onto it another couple years 😅.

Funny you just posted this because I just warmed Very Peary Pumpkin after letting it sit since I got it for BBMB! I used 2 cubes in my bathroom and also lit a B&BW Clove Pumpkin single wick. It is tolerable and I don't think I'll have a problem getting through it 🤣

I ordered a second-hand Cedar Cider, thinking it would have aged well, but I couldn't smell it on warm unless I got really close to my 25 watt warmer. Buuuut...I've noticed a performance issue in my living room the past few days with all bars except Painted Leaves, even after going out and coming home again. Maybe it's my warmers? I have 3 in my living room, but I'm not sure they're the best for throw. Maybe I just have bad bars? Ugh.
@RobynH Жыл бұрын
Lol Painted Leaves is always extremely strong. Cedar Cider is one that I also find to be a light medium type of scent. Some folks find it quite strong but it never has been in my home - I think it depends on the nose and the house. But you should definitely be able to smell it throughout! Sometimes nose blindness is a thing - especially for spaces like living rooms where you spend a lot of time. To rule out that, if you stop smelling a bar, go to another part of your house or go run an errand, and see if you can smell it when you return. If so, it’s nose blindness. If not, it is the bar not performing well. But yes, Cedar Cider is maybe a 4/10 strength in my open layout. Others find it way stronger, but it never is for me.

@RobynH Жыл бұрын
Probably won’t get much stronger with time being a citrus. And some of the bright zingy tones may mellow out into a smoother tone in time. Citrus is best used fresh in general.

Absolutely wonderful video, Robyn. So very informative and helpful. I do have a question about one Scentsy Bar and Brick, and that is Beach Daisy. I think I already know the answer to this, but is that a bar or brick that might get stronger with age? I love this scent so, so much, but I've had such a hard time with the throw, and my hope was that if I put it away for several months, the throw would get better. It sounds like perhaps not. Again, thank you so much for this very informative video!
@RobynH Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure first hand if that one gets stronger with time. If I had to guess I’d say the musky perfumey type notes in that scent might strengthen with time which miiiiight help with longevity on warm. But the Daisy and the apple note in it (especially the apple) might mellow and soften and lose some of their crisp brightness - which isn’t always a bad thing! It might just be a different balance. In a nutshell if I had to guess: it’ll become a bit more perfumey and bit less appley/sweet over time, and may get a bit longer lasting but probably not a whole lot stronger. Just a guess! Maybe someone who’s had it aged can chime in.

This is good information. Have to keep in mind though that the average customer is not going to wait around for two or three years to cure wax. Mine think I’m crazy when I talk about that.
@RobynH Жыл бұрын
Oh absolutely, I don’t mean to imply that anyone should be waiting years to use wax!!! But lots of people do have older bars laying around and scents do change (sometimes for better, sometimes not so much) over time. Vendor wax especially tends to benefit from a couple months of curing time, while Scentsy doesn’t technically *need* curing (although many scents do get stronger with time - just the nature of the fragrance oils used).
@iwillstom Жыл бұрын
@@RobynH I know, I didn’t mean to say that you did imply that. I just can’t help thinking of all my non-hoarding wax friends who look at me strangely when I talk about curing. It’s anathema to them. 😂
