We have a lack of scientific teachers at the high school level. It is mostly, education professionals that have a learned a bit of science. My concern is the lack of critical thinking being done due to the pressures placed upon the teachers to acquire higher grades for state exams. Critical thinking is vital. You will no doubt have to absorb so much information over the next several years but the love for discovery of increasing your knowledge base will fuel your desire. Never stop questioning. Especially in college! Some professors will look at you like who do you think you are but the great ones will be intrigued and give you guidance. I tell my students to question everything and be skeptical when going over the empirical evidence. Give it a fresh view and do not automatically see what you have been told to see. Truly view it from all possibilities and then make your conclusion. And just because you are inexperienced do not let that hold you back. Rise to the challenges when presented and relish the sacrifices you made towards obtaining your goals. In time it will be you that teaches our youth. Do not make the same mistakes your professors will make with you. Good luck with all your endeavors.

I'm in the it's-all-cold-baryonic-stuff camp (and misunderestimated singularity masses). And 'cosmological models say that can't be the case' is the best response I've heard to my assertion. Kudos to Physics Girl for being the absolute first person I ever heard it from! Even after a lot of wikipediaing. I'd like more explanation of that response. I respect the cosmological models because of the cosmo expansion explanation video she did. Once again, it told me more than I knew and in a super easy way! Go PG, go PG!

When you think about it, we don't even know what matter is or what energy is. We interact with (I hesitate to say 'see') certain events; but we haven't a clue what's really going on. Matter is mostly empty space, and the bits that aren't are so small that we have no idea what they are, how they do what they do (or oven what it is that they do) or how they came to exist.

maybe there's a false assumption being made. Eistein essentially theorized that gravity was simply warped space-time caused by a matter. We assume that matter is the only thing that can warp space-time. So when we're looking for the source of all this missing gravity, we naturally look for missing matter. Maybe its not matter we should be looking for. Can energy warp space-time? Since matter is essentially energy interacting with its surroundings (possibly the higgs field), it wouldn't be a stretch to think that energy could warp space-time as well. Then again, maybe space-time is just naturally warped.

@life42theuniverse4 жыл бұрын
1:52 when you play the game with your friend it is tension in the arms which increases in proportion to the rotation rate. The tension comes from electrostatic forces in the molecules of your arms and bones. When we are talking of a galaxy spinning we "know" gravity is the only thing that could provide the tension... therefor the evidence of a higher tension is a statement of higher mass. However, only because we discount the forces responsible for the tension. If other forces are at work in the tension then those forces could account for differences and not some undetected mass.

"Gravitational Lensing": Since photons have both an electric and magnetic components to them, and since electrons have an associated magnetic field with them, then when photons pass atoms and molecules, the interactions between the electro and/or magnetic fields causes the less massive photon beams to bend.

In the video it is repeated, several times, that dark matter doesn't interact with light. And then Dianna also says the gravity from dark matter bends light. It seems our perspective of the universe always leads us to contradict ourselves and create exceptions to any verbal model or expression we try to create.

After watching your videos, and based on the fact that the eyes are the only exocranial (out of the skull) parts of the brain (yes, they're mostly made of neurons), we can deduce three things: - When a brain grows too big to fit in the inner volume of the skull, the resulting pressure will inflate the ocular globes in a charming way. - Just as the universe has dark matter, the brain has grey matter (dendritic) and white matter (axonic). I will now add blue matter (optic), because 1) it's a very important matter 2) it's poetic. - The outer part of the brain is much more beautiful than the inner (officially the ears don't agree but they're a bit jealous because nobody ever said "wow, you have beautiful ears").

I read a hypothesis somewhere where they said dark matter may be matter floating around in another space dimension, and since gravity is the "bending or curvature" of space time, although that matter may be in another dimension, it's dimension is still part of space time so we can feel the gravity from the matter in another dimension. I'm not a physicist though so I can't confirm the validity of such a hypothesis, but it would be cool if dark matter is matter from another dimension.
