#spo2andpao2levels
Spo2 and pao2 are very frequently measured and used in ICUs and ER.
In the above video we try to find out the difference between them.
#regularcrisis
regularcrisis.com is dedicated to doctors and nurses who regularly manage crisis like situations in ICU & ER.
Intensive care unit and emergency department are the backbones of any hospital where all critical situations are managed. Everyday is a crisis like situation there and with time the team working there get used to it with. With time, their skill gets more sharpen with which they manage these situations more and more efficiently each time.
But most importantly, the experience which they accumulate is invaluable; their experiences teach them things which at times are not mentioned in the regular textbooks. What if this experience is shared with the doctors and nurses who are newly joined in ICU and ER!
Regularcrisis.com serves this purpose only. We share educational material (mainly videos and forums discussion) which is a blend of latest guidelines and rich experience of ICU and ER teams.
We hope that his small effort of ours will be of some help to those working in ICU and ER.
Update: regularcrisis.com is now affiliated with ESBICM* for creating educational videos for health care working in ICU and ER.
*Educational Society of Bedside Intensive Care Medicine
regularcrisis is founded by Dr. Ankur Gupta, an Intensivist.

Excellent presentation and explanations of the gaseous exchange of two important gases in our body via plasma to haemoglobin and vice versa. Kindly also explain how two main processes cause respiratory as well as metabolic imbalances following ARDS and MODS. thanks and regards.

As only 4 molecules of oxygen can be attached to hemoglobin, that means the spo2 level will always be multiple of 25 (25-50-75-100 %) in percentage. So why does it show 90% or 95 %. What would that mean ?

Dear Sir, can you please suggest the reason......My daughter age is 12 years and her SPO2 is going up and down sometimes it is showing below 90 (sometimes 60, 70 and 80) and sometime above 90 , RTPCT - Negative, CT SCAN - Normal and CRP Level - Normal

How to calculate spo2 /fio2 level sir
@TheICUChannel
@TheICUChannel 2 жыл бұрын
There is Nthg called Spo2 / fio2 level … it’s po2/fio2 level … Suppose in ABG po2 is 200 and you are giving fio2 of 50% … then It will be (200/50)*100 … it will be 400

@@TheICUChannel sir when pao2 not available....then use spo2/fio2....and spo2/fio2 < 316 then we called it as ARDS ,I read this in covid 19 guidline....thants why asked sir

It’s because oxygen dissociation curve is sigmoid

Because when hemoglobin is unable to get the oxygen it needs from the lungs or other sources, then it will take even what's dissolved in the plasma. Another reason would be that when gaseous exchange takes place, hemoglobin more readily binds to the oxygen. But there's still remaining oxygen left in the plasma. The extra oxygen that diffused into the blood. However, when there's not enough oxygen, there's no extra ex l oxygen for the hemoglobin.
