So, when the manual says once a month throw the truck in 4x4 for 10 miles to keep the gears oiled....this should only be done on off roading??

What you should have said is TOYOTA SAYS DRIVE 10 miles a month in 4WD, and when doing that drive in a straight line and don’t make turns around corners.
