When I was diagnosed with both mild dyslexia and ADHD one of the biggest misconceptions I had as a kid was that it is a temporary thing it will go away when I will take medicines but later on I realised it stays with you I had lot of difficulties but one of the big problem was maths of course and I would be good at giving answer orally but I found it hard to string my words together in writing and while asking questions in simplest manner possible till now also when I try to write fast my handwriting turns out like a doctor's prescription. But I'm over most of the traits and I feel more vocal and proud about me having dyslexia

Dyslexia has to have a Nuropshycological evaluation not a psychological evaluation. ADHD needs a nurologist not a psychiatrist it is a nurological disorder like dyslexia. I have been thru the mill and have helped parents understand it.

There should be tests in schools, I have trouble reading and writing, my sisters picked on me calling me stupid and dum all the time, I would go in my room and cry, and think to myself, why can't I be like them, I'm the second oldest of 5..... But I'm the only who found it hard, even in secondary school....thanks for auto correct it helps sometimes to write a word!! Lol...

If you really want an insight into Dyslexia, find and read the book "The Gift of Dyslexia". Its not a disability but rather a different way of thinking, if it was a disability, it seems strange that most of the greatest minds the world has seen were dyslexic (Leonardo Di Vinci, Albert Einstein to mention just 2). If you are dyslexic, be proud as you have abilities that not dyslexic people don't.

Woo Lar My 16 year old is dyslexic. After we switched him to a different school his grades skyrocketed. He got an A plus final grade in freshman biology. He volunteered this summer at a local botanical gardens. He also does an art form called Parkour which has helped his mind set greatly. I am finding that dyslexic people ( at least in my sons case ) think more outside the box. The kid is built like a truck and smart too. Now he wants to be a life guard. Proud dad here.

@jehovahrastafai51354 жыл бұрын
I think in every country in the world should have assisted technology for adult people with dyslexia help read and write mandatory. In school, All kind of libraries, courthouses, State House, government buildings, trade schools, organizations that help you find jobs, Banks, credit union colleges. I believe we got far in with helping dyslexia people but not enough for the adults that's dealing with it everyday.

Can someone with Dyslexia and ADHD have some long term damage or side effects for being to long without treatments? I recently found out that i was med for adhd on elementary then mom stopped on high school and my life went downhill. My grades went down, learning, reading, retaining, feeling motivation, or the need to do thing were so often in my head. So many damn thoughts in my head and i couldnt keep em in order, always felt my brain was fried on fire at 1000mph. At 26 i started medicinal weed and it helped but is so short term now i developed addiction to it. Im afraid to go back sober and have that mess in my head back. I still have it while on cannabis but is reduced so much by it. But i cant beat it sometimes. Its like my very soul refuses. Even to work sometimes. I can be 3 days super into work or just normal then out of blue is 1 week or more stuck on this feeling that work is a huuuge burden and i cant keep up. And i start forgetting what ive learned like j cant remember ugh a nightmare.

Is it possibelt to make a reasonale adjustment to thoose of us that have processing disorders and edit or redo the videos without the super imposed layers or annoying high-pitched sound at the beginning? Other than that I want to say thank you for the information.

Why do all the therapist and intellectualist's have to use unconnected facts lists!? I can remember logically arranged lists not "trivia pursue" facts that do not follow in logical profession. It like taking a bunch of playing and scattering them face up on the table and then asked to find a pattern! Rediculous. I just noticed this as a favorite format in textbooks.

@theeleventhrose5985 жыл бұрын
Dyslexia isn’t something you can get rid of. It’s not a disease. If you have it, then it’s a part of who you are. Dyslexia doesn’t have anything to do with relationships with other people. Dyslexia is language based. Dyslexic people think more uniquely, and are usually more smart than average people. Dyslexia is NOT something to be ashamed of.

But even with the video enlarged I can't READ whatever it is you have written on your flip chart. I just find it ironic that you're preaching to a crowd that has difficulty reading and listening and you spent so little time on your presentation.

My daughter can do calculas and trig and was never taught to do and got one of the highest scores on the math SAT for college. They are the smartest kids i know with very high IQs. But language skill stink but they do change that with proper training. My daughter has a bacholors degree in legal and policy studies. Her retention from her studies would blow your mind. They are beyond smart. Walt Disney, Nelson D. ROCKEFELLAR, INSTEIN. JUST TO NAME A FEW. IQS OF 160 OR MORE. NOT KIDDING.

Please blame the language and spelling of the language before blaming the people who have to learn such a perverse language with its spelling. Deal with language first, and then determine the level of dyslexia of a person, if they actually have it. I am constructing a language with its writing system which hopefully, eliminates dyslexia for writing. But this is only a personal effort and not public. I call it ‘Amengun”

I do have the problem of dislexia among pthers and just discovered your explanations to be clear enough to me which is great and I thank u for that Dough I’d like you to know that as you explain we as listeners (and disabled readers) need most to read and listen simultaneously so the idea doesn’t escape so there’s no space for “socially accepted stuff” at same time, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE quit the 3 camera thing, we already saw you at presentation and wrap up fo your videos so there’s no need for more interaction, so many closeups to chart and then you pointing to it and then again different take from other angle, its very difficult that way for me to keep up Please keep camera steady on chart for the whole explanation or at least for one whole idea Its not a matter of like or dislike Really need it that way Thank you again

This is bull crap, their is nothing wrong with children that you talk off, the problem is the government because they expect every single person to learn the same way, but in reality people don’t, and you call an alternative way of learning as difficulties, and why is that, because it easier for schools to teach everyone the same, I left school with no reading skills and no grades, at 21 I learned myself to read and was doing university studies because the way I learn was easy, and could learn quite fast, I did primary, secondary, university off my own way of learning, it not a learning disability, it’s just a different way of learning and if teaches understanding is only one way to teach, they have a teaching disability to teach every child, and by telling a child you struggle in this and that area, is in fact holding them back, and making them believe they have struggles with learning, when they are quite capable in the way they need to learn, it’s something to think about, it’s ok to be different

Dyslexia is not a learning disability
@alexandriaroach43998 жыл бұрын
lol yes it is learning disability it literally means you have difficulties learning things when you are dyslexic your processing skills are slower this is not an insult to people with learning disabilities/dyslexia I am severely dyslexic and dyspraxic and have symptoms of ADHD like many people with a learning disability disabilitity throws a lot of people off it does not mean that you are dumb/ lees of a person or less inprotant
@lathurna13348 жыл бұрын
alexandria roach I have done a lot of research into it I myself have severe dyslexia and dyspepsia as well and neither are learning disabilities that's a very often mistake that people make. Its not classes as a disability, more a difficulty then a disability.
@lathurna13348 жыл бұрын
But honestly I don't get the difference between difficulty and disability but apparently psychologist and doctors do.
@lathurna13348 жыл бұрын
I have also argued this point with a doctor, that it should be classes as a learning disability but they think otherwise.
