Aaand we have finally hit spring in our Edinburgh Month by Month series! Let's go out and see what Edinburgh looks like in the thankfully a lot less depressing month of March, plus some tips on what weather to prepare to, what food to try and some other practical info for all of you planning to visit in the month of March.
Please excuse the bunged up sound of my voice in this video as I have shot it for you while ill! Boo .(

Glad you both have come through and are now well. We visited end of March/early April 2019. Wonderful time of year - not busy and refreshing to see the city wake up and bloom after a long winter.

We will be arriving in Ediburgh in under two weeks and I am so excited😍 It looks soo much more spring-y there than it does here in Finland.😍

“The weather that you see in those shots is not fully representative…” I appreciate your honesty. 😆 That said, it still does look like a nice time to visit. Not so different from where I live in Japan, I guess. (Maybe a few degrees warmer here..?) Anyway, I appreciated the cool images and chill music. 🍻

I really need to force myself to go shooting on all those super windy, wet, grey days... but... it is hard to find any motivation to do that .D Where in Japan do you live?

@@Kakibot Wet grey days…sounds like where I’m originally from (Vancouver, Canada). Now I live in Mie prefecture, central Japan. (A rural area between Nagoya and Osaka…and the location of Japan’s most important Shinto shrine.) If you’re ever in the area, let me know! I can recommend somewhere interesting (cafe, brewpub, market?) to check out. 🍻

@@Jordan-inJapan Sounds good! Once they let me back to Japan I will likely want to spend the whole 3 months that tourist visa allows there haha. Mie seems nice, plus how convenient to be sandwiched between two city-heavy areas without having to actually live in one!

Top tip, if you are going up to Edinburgh Castle and feel you can't do the walk up the hill, please tell them, the Castle offers a careers ticket option also, if you you have that or if your struggling they do have a car service that will on less busy days drive you up to the Castle and museum up there. Staff are amazing and are really happy to get I need to start a how to get around these cities if you have mobility issues blog 😀 😊 thanks for your vidios .. Now I just have to find some friends that will come with me to the fringe in August,

Glad you are now Covid free. I’m still having a slight time adjusting to the time change but it is greatly welcome. They are talking about trying to abolish it next year in the US. Envious of your blossoming trees and flowers. Bulbs are just coming up here and of course the weeds and the thorns are growing first. Take good care of yourself and enjoy Easter!

So glad the COVID has left your home. I too was hit with the COVID stick two weeks ago. As I will be traveling to Edinburgh at the end of the month I am glad (if that’s possible) that it hit me in March instead of days before my planned arrival. I look forward to your next video, although by that time I will be in Scotland!

May tends to be one of the nicest months in Edinburgh, but of course with Scotland one should always be ready for quick changes in weather! It's unlikely to be cold cold but it might very well be colder than what you expect (because the wind does cool you down a lot). Hope you have a great time!

I think for locals, March can be particularly bad because it FEELS like it should be getting nicer and often it isn't just yet. But you might luck out - I definitely remember many beautiful March days! Visiting Scotland asks for a zen-like ability to just not mind whatever weather hits you. After all Edinburgh looks beautiful in the rain! Just be wind-proof! .) I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Aaaah St Patrick's day! I forgot about that. But I wouldn't say Scots really celebrate it. I mostly see Irish pubs setting up events (unsurprisingly) but otherwise it's not really something you would notice much in the streets like you might in Irish/American cities .)

Hello, great videos! Question, my wife and our twin boys (4 of us in total) are planning on moving there this Fall for school. We are in our mid twenties and our boys are currently almost a year old. Do you or could you make a video regarding moving there with young children? Are there months where you probably couldn't take them out as it would be too cold? Thank you for your help! We just started looking so any help would be awesome!
@Kakibot
@Kakibot 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Frederico! Congrats on the future move! .) Small kids - wise: I have a friend who moved here last fall with a toddler (so just a bit older than your twins, I believe she's about 2 and a half years old now), and she was able to go out just fine over the winter - the trouble in Edinburgh is mostly the biting wind rather than cold itself. I'd invest into some really wind proof baby attire! (Some days it will most definitely be so windy you will probably be a bit scared to take your kids out though. But those are days when we are all quite worried to leave the house x) ) Another thing that gets tricky with kids is that the extremes in when the sun goes up and down in Scotland seem to mess with their sleeping schedules - so from what I gathered, some good blackout curtains will be a godsend!
@NickiNewellArt
@NickiNewellArt 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, don't mean to barge in but I just moved here with my husband and 2yr old fall of 2021 (I am the friend Kakibot was mentioning). I don't have a video about it but would be happy to answer some questions and pass on some knowledge if I can. About certain months where it is too cold to take them out, I wouldn't say there are full months (haven't been here long), because there are days where even though it is cold the sun comes out and it's beautiful. The wind is killer so I have seen some kids have these like coverall things that are like a coat with feet. I keep meaning to get one for my daughter so she can still be out when it's rainy and not get her clothes wet. I will say it gets dark really early in the winter, as Kat mentioned. So there were some days that if we didn't go out before her afternoon nap we missed all the sun.
