What is electronic ignition... do I need it in my classic car?

I fitted one of these units to my 1978 Scimitar GTE, 3.0 Ford Essex V6, four years ago and have had no trouble whatsoever. No maintenance required at all

Hi, is there a separate ignition amplifier required or is the unit that mounts inside the distributer all that's required?

You’ll need a coil as well as this kit. But if you’ve already got points you should have a coil already

Any advice would be appreciated. I have a pertronix module 2 on my golf cart. Any reason why the manufacturer Columbia Par Car had one installed?? My cart just starts without running. Would the module have to be replaced??
