@@nonenone6704 Until saitama shows up.... I was actually sad when he lost. Probably one of the best moments in the story was when the hero were about to execute him, and that little boy jumped on them and begged for garou to run away, and they try to explain the kid that they are the heroes, the good guys, and that garou is a monster, but all you can see is a group of guys covered in blood with an expression says "murder" in their face, trying to kill a totally broken guy that can barely move, and that's after they haven't even fought against him, rather just waited for him to drop down after the one who brought him to that condition didn't wanted to kill him. In the middle of all of that, you have saitama, that doesn't even understand why they are arguing about this ordeal.

+ALUCARD I was balling like a little girl when he started losing. All his effort, all his determination, all his sklll and training: utterly useless. It's an exact flip of Mumen and Sea King... with the big bad strong hero beating up the weak, ugly, monster. And when Saitama told Garou that he never really wanted to be a monster, that he actually wanted to be a hero? That broke me on the inside, Garou failed from the start... because he never became a monster. What Saitama did... that... THAT....is how you do "Talk no Jutsu". I seriously believe Season 3 of OPM in 2022 will be Anime of the Decade. It could surpass even the raw popularity of Dragon Ball. I don't see any other series, even MHA, coming close to that.

I think you're spot on, Nux. Quirk discrimination definitely seems to be a main contributor to why criminals become criminals. I didn't hear you mention this, but I seem to remember Deku talking in the first episode, saying that "there were those who weren't entirely sure what to do with their quirks", and that they became "villains". I think these points come together in a very interesting way; that if you don't have a clear view of your potential (quirk potential or otherwise), then it is too easy to be influenced by some negative views of your identity, and then live up to those views, because "what else am I going to do?".

@HeavensMemory
@HeavensMemory 6 жыл бұрын
you could become a hero or do some other job with this quirk but to become a villain seems to be the more logical conclusion here. It's like the quirks that are based on blood consumption or mindcontrol. Sure you could save people with that but compared to healing or other "neutral" quirks they instill fear and it's harder to make them look good. If you have to bite your opponent in order to stop him, people will lable you a bloodsucking monster or something like that, even if you just saved lifes and defeated a villian. A sad fact and MHA does a good job showing that problem.

what I like about gentle and stain is that they are both twisted possible version of midoriya. Stain wanted a hero society where heroes are selfless and doesn't seek any kind of fame or reward. That's commendable to think like that but it's absurd to expect people that are basically part of law enforcement to not get compensated for the risk.And setting All Might as the standard was really unrealistic. Gentle wanted to be a hero but wasnt good at school and dropped out of it however he still wanted to be one and when he tried to save someone got in the way and got him and his family into troubles, was rejected by his family, forgotten by his former classman. That meeting with his former classman was his epiphany, he didnt want to be forgotten. And he was ready to leave his mark in History no matter how. They were'nt bad people, but society shaped them as they are now and went to the path of villainy. Heck I would even say that Gentle is still a good individual going as far as surrending himself and sending Midoriya away to not ruin the festival he was trying to not get cancelled. Anyway point being that in an alternate universe he probably became like them, maybe not to the same extend but still, it's been shown that the MHA society can be very cruel.

I agree with this video. After the episode with the villain Mustard aired. ( The one that makes poison all around him). I was thinking how with a quirk like his it was basically impossible for him to become a hero. If he were to use his quirk in any public setting it would cause harm to a lot of people. His quirk is only useful in a 1 on 1 fight in a large desolate area or, unfortunately, for the purposes of evil. This does not justify what he did, but it is kind of sad that despite having a powerful quirk he can't use it to do good even if he wanted to

Not necessarily true. Kid had good sense, and a lot of utility in his power- with a bit more moral mooring, he could have made a fantastic cop. Just about any SWAT unit would trade their collective left nuts for a guy who can do what he can. That's the thing with villains in this show: they might face discrimination or put-downs, but its ultimately they themselves that reject society. Gang Orca said to hell with people's perceptions- leaned into and against them even- and came out a good man for it. The gas mask kid didn't- he caved on himself and chose to become a villain. That's one of the real differences between a hero and a villain in my opinion- you hold yourself to a higher standard, even when others expect a lower one.
@drakeford4860

@artillery only No. I wouldn't. And I absolutely _loathe_ those arguments. The world is full of shit people that do shit things- which means it's also filled with people being subjected to those shit things. Yet, somehow, most of those people manage to stay decent- neutral, at the worst. When you take a licking, you can choose to wallow in it, or you choose to rise above it. I've known people who did one, and people who did the other, and even some who- for better or worse- switched between the two. The bottom line is that you choose. Anyone who says otherwise is doing little more than lying to themselves in order to deflect responsibility. Some villains I can respect, but not those who lay their decisions at other people's feet. I suppose I feel the same about people in general.
@Merilirem

Thats fair as long as everyone gets an even start and path. Thats not how life generally works however so you need to factor that in. For instance a bad education system is ruining so many people. They can't know better if they were never taught or shown and if you keep teaching badly your going to end up with no one to show. Not everyone is inherently shit after all. Most people just became that way as they grew up in a shitty environment. Rich or not.

@@Merilirem Trust me, I'm aware. Believe it or not, I'm actually a teacher myself- and I chose this field more so because of my extraordinarily shitty experiences in school than anything else. I'm not saying that people can't be pointed in the wrong direction. They can, and that's a problem. The issue is that they're still the ones who choose to walk that way- choose to give up on themselves- and that's ultimately a failing of their own making. I don't get angry and frustrated with this because I think they're inherently shit people- I get angry and frustrated because _I know that they can be better than that._ The first step to getting on the right track is figuring out where you left it, and sometimes that takes a bit of a reaming.

That discrimination or labeling of who you are because of your quirk is a big problem. Because the people with deformed or quirks suited for villianhood wouldn't be able to find work or any good work because am sure the business would ask about your quirk or looking into it and evaluate you on it most likely not hiring you no matter if ur qualified or not. This in turn would cause an increase in unemployment leading to crime. Which is why there so much crime and villiany in mbha and the only absolute deterine was all might. Until the league of villian giving hope of wealth power to these individuals and the fall of all might encourage that confidence backed up by the league
@FastForwardPlans
@FastForwardPlans 4 жыл бұрын
Given you are required to register your quirk once you know what it is, yes that would lead to all sorts of problems that might make it impossible to work if you happen to have been born with something unpopular, which is why many countries are debating on the ethics of allowing questions about gender, skin tone, and even criminal history (many people who end up back in prison resorted to that after failing to find work because no place was willing to hire them).

I was kinda surprised that you haven't mentioned over-dependency on heroes in the MHA society that became obvious in this season. Our primary antagonist's hatred for this is basically his motivation ("They are smiling thoghtlessly because ALL MIGHT is smiling thoughtlessly"). And Shigaraki wouldn't be our primary antagonist if it wasn't for the people that ignored him in the past while thinking "The heroes will take care of him, I won't bother".

point is that shinso points out he may have the tendency to be classified as villain through his quirk, i think mineta's quirk could also be seen as a villains way to get somebody stuck in one spot and the victim would thereby have no defense for the wrath of mineta, may arguably too be classified as a villains quirk, since it has the same feature to control/tame the victim as well as shinso's quirk!
@Merilirem
@Merilirem 6 жыл бұрын
Not at all. Sero's tape isn't much different in that respect. Thats more a "how you could use it" thought. The difference here is that Shinso has no choice, his power ONLY works through mental domination of people. Enslaving someones will is much more sinister in peoples eyes than tying them up or sticking them places. Mina has the most to say regarding both appearance and quirk i think. Her acid while still not too far gone is super lethal. Her rejected name "Alien queen" while cool did allude to this nature of hers. Point is that Shinso only had problems because until others his power was cliche in its evil uses. Its even called brainwashing. This isn't about arguments being made. This is about social Stigma. Mineta would not have inherent quirk judgement but rather the kind you have shown where its because its Mineta that it could be seen that way. His pervy nature makes you think of "the wrath of mineta" rather than simply having someone with an inhuman visage or "evil" power. If you gave someone brainwashing most people would expect and think of its evil uses. Mineta's balls only get that when you combine them with the personal factors found in Mineta. That difference means its no different from Bakugo being able to blow people up or Mei being able to Spy on people.

Honestly, I consider the society of My Hero Academia to be eviler than the "villains." Look at the way Midoriya was treated because he didn't have a quirk. He was treated like trash by Bakugou while all the others stood by and did nothing or laughed at Midoriya. It wasn't enough that he was alive. Because he was quirkless, their collective attitude basically suggested that he should just die. The "villains" are better people by comparison. Shiguraki threatened to kill 30 or more people to compel Midoriya into staying silent. He did not specify quirks; he threatened them because they were alive. THAT was what mattered to him. It's sad when the villain has a bigger heart than the supposed society. Meanwhile, All Might may think he's the Symbol of Hope, but he's really an icon of despair. He's raised up like a god so that those told they are worthless sacrifice their power on the altar of his alleged godhood. In the episode with the sludge villain, the three heroes entrusted to be the corpse in lieu of the innocent stood by and did jack shit because they couldn't see a way to beat the villain. At the very least, their job description demanded that they die trying, but they did nothing while standing by; sac-less and spineless. Midoriya was more of a hero than all of them combined and sought to do what he could even if it was pointless because he cared, and they had the gall to criticize him for it; because he damaged their worthless vanity by making them look bad. Add to that the society's solution for Stain. They penalized the heroes in charge of Midoiya, Todoroki, and Iida because the three of them fought Stain and broke that retarded-ass law while giving credit to Endeavor; all so that they could try and hide Stain's message. Well, that failed spectacularly, and they ended up throwing away a golden opportunity. By working together, 3 heroes-in-training defeated the Hero Killer who'd taken down many pro heroes. Consider that for a hot second: 3 students teamed up to defeat someone that the pros had, thus far, failed to defeat. That could inspire the forces of good just as much as Stain inspired the side of evil. But, alas, their shit laws and grip of influence were more important, and they effectively castrated themselves. In My Hero Academia, the sad truth is that the society is the ultimate villain while the heroes are pawns and the villains are the unexpected saviors. The only difference is a change in terminology because the real villains control the media and the dictionary.

The way to solve the villain problem is to have them do hero vs villain scenario battle tournaments where the villain sets the terms and can recruit non-brainiac villains into the fight, and an equal number of heroes have to subvert their sinister plans, and it would double as practice for the heroes! It'd give the villain-would-be people an outlet and actual praise for their quirks and have a place in society.

It does make a lot of sense, but then you have to wonder about students like Tokoyami, Tsuyu, or Koda and how they might be affected by this. Because, I don't think any of them have really mentioned anyone treating them like a future villain for their quirk or appearance, and Tokoyami at the very least does have a very intimidating and dark look and quirk. And I understand that to every rule or theory there is an exception, but it seems a little odd that Shinso would have a lot of issues from this sort of treatment and not characters like Tokoyami. Of course, there is always the chance that I just missed it.

"the world being fragile" is just a pretty statement. Everyone depends on All Might, therefore killing him will cause everyone to suffer. Anyone can come up with that idea.

Especially villains, its more like the groups, their goals, actions and results are more important than the characters. As long as the characters obey their groups theme, I'm not sure if the author does the best job explaining this. I think Deku and Shigaraki are some of the only individual characters that matter.

I do also think this analysis was always what shigaraki was going for but we didnt realize as he did. Like he seems to hate heroes because they have heroic quirks. Please do the Deku VS Bakugo fight, Nux! Only you can do justice to the grave narrative importance that this fight holds for Bakugo's "character development"! Which is totally not him falling back into old patterns and venting his frustration on Deku for no reason, despite the fact that Deku saved his diva ass. And All Might blowing on his booboo, telling him that it's not his fault even though it totally was, thus completely glossing over what an asshole Bakugo has been the entire time. And how the beautiful moral of this fight boils down to "It's okay to be a total asshole. If something bad happens because of you you don't have to apologize to anybody, you just have to become stronger!"
@SadPawn
@SadPawn 6 жыл бұрын
1.Yes,he's venting on deku, but he also wants to understand why All Might chose him. Plus, in the end, Deku consents to that fight and isn't a sandbag 2. Yeah, telling 15 year old child that it's their fault for being kidnapped is a great idea. Blame it on the victim, wontcha? Wow. Totally reasonable. Congratulations, you'd be a great parent. 3. No, the moral of this story is Bakugou admitting that he too can be weak, Bakugou acknowleding Deku’s strenght, accepting him as a rival and in a way an equal, and realizing that he can learn from him. Sure, I'd love him to apologize, but, you know, baby steps? Just because he isn't "perfect" in your book doesn't mean he isn't developing. What a crazy idea, huh?
@TinyAnnieLeonhart
@TinyAnnieLeonhart 6 жыл бұрын
1. Here's an idea: Just ask and DON'T punch the guy! Ordinarily, conversations do not require this amount of violence. And it does not matter if Deku consents to that fight. The fact still stands that Bakugo is physically venting his frustration on him. Besides, no amount of throwing punches made him "understand why All Might chose Deku". It was All Might finally coming out and TALKING to him. 2. In real life? Certainly not. By the standards of the BNHA universe? Yes, I do believe it is appropriate to tell him "The villains kidnapped you, thinking that they could recruit you, because you were acting like an asshole. You are aiming to be a Hero. Get your shit together and start acting like it!" The latter is actually what Best Jeanist told Bakugo during his internship. 3. Oh, goodie! None of that has anything to do with the reason he got kidnapped or how he "ended All Might's hero career", i.e. him acting like an asshole and the villains thinking he'd make a great villain. You cannot solve a problem if your solution does not even address it! Someone has to call Bakugo out on his bullshit. Which nobody does! It's great that he now acknowledges Deku as his rival and all that jazz. SPOILERS It got him as far as not yelling at toddlers. Wow. Amazing.

@@TinyAnnieLeonhart Annie Leonhart Annie Leonhart 1. Am I saying it's healthy? No. Am I saying that Bakugou puts immense pressure on himself because of inferiority complex while not being able to express his feelings healthily WHILE he has to keep All Might giving Deku his quirk a secret and can't talk with anyone but Deku about it since All Might doesn't want to tell him? Yes. Was that fight necessary? For Bakugou, yes. I don't think he's reverting to his old ways. He doesn't actually want to hurt Deku, he has emotions he needs to process. He's not reverting because he's never found a healthy way to vent his emotions. The fight wasn't healthy, but led to improvement (more for that in n.3). 2. I bet you're the type who, when told that someone was rape, asks firsts what they were wearing. The essence of victim blaming, ladies and gentlemen. Anyway,the thing is, Bakugou blamed himself for the kidnapping for completely different reason. He thought that he was too weak and his mother enforced that mindset (saying her son "let himself get kidnapped and caused trouble to everyone"). I think that the fact Bakugou's a loudmouth prone to anger isn't his biggest problem. That anger stems from somewhere - infiriority complex and self hate towards himself that not being perfect and fulfilling his standarts it brings. You gotta deal with the roots first. Say, he stops being "an asshole". He'll still have all these fillings of anger, self hate, resentment, etc, but no way to vent them. 3) He's not "an asshole" for the sake of being "an asshole". He literally needs therapy and needs someone to tell him he needs it, not that he's "an asshole". His mother, aizawa, all might, someone. If he doesn't find a healthy coping mechanism and way to vent his emotions, than stopping being "an asshole" won't do anyone any good. He'll just explode again and start another fight. Also, I said - baby steps. Improvement of character isn't easy or always a straight line, in real life as well. People don't just change like that. And just because he isn't developing in the way you'd prefer or as fast as you'd want, doesn't mean he's not.
@TinyAnnieLeonhart
@TinyAnnieLeonhart 6 жыл бұрын
1. A reason is not an excuse. Do I understand his reason? Partly. His inferiority complex stemming from the fact that Deku was nice to Bakugo despite Bakugo bullying him is too dumb for me to comprehend. But, yes, I get that he is frustrated because of all the inner pressure. Does it excuse Bakugo starting a fight with Deku just because he was frustrated? No, it does not. Hence, it it is objectively not okay and Bakugo is in the wrong. Period. 2. Wow, that is just rude. Sorry that I cannot feel pity for a bully with violent tendencies getting "kidnapped" by people who tried to recruit him, who didn't even get hurt (unlike Ragdoll), had to be "rescued" by a specific person because he's such a diva, and all of this terrible ordeal hurt his ego. Boo-fucking-hoo! Sorry for having more sympathy for Deku, who got bullied all his life and been told to kill himself. And now it's somehow his fault that his asshole childhood "friend" has self-esteem issues and he has to feel responsible for it. THAT is why Deku consented to this fight. And it's complete bullshit! I get it that Bakugo is a victim. But so was King Geoffrey at the Purple Wedding. 3. You know as well as I do that he will not get therapy. That's not how manga work and it's not how Japan works. Getting psychological treatment is super stigmatized in Japan btw. And he will not talk to somebody because it is not in his character. So, the "manga way" to solve this is: he needs somebody to call him out on his bullshit. If anyone did, Bakugo had an incentive to reflect, to process and to change, even if that means clashing with that person. Deku could have been that person but he is too nice. As a result the "message" is left vague and unsatisfying. In my opinion, this teaches boys and young men that Bakugo's behavior is okay. And that is why I'm so hung up on shaming this fight and it's conclusion.
@SadPawn
@SadPawn 6 жыл бұрын
@@TinyAnnieLeonhart Why can't i feel sorry both for Izuku and Bakugou? And no, his infiriority complex doesn't stem from that occurance. It stems from people praising him all his life, telling that he has amazing quirk, and therefore him feeling he HAS to be the best or else he's wasting his potential/being worthless. I'd write more, but I can clearly see where our disagreement steems from. I see and judge Bakugou's as real life person, you a fictional character. So this conversation is worthless. Thing is, MHA villains like shigiraki overstay their welcome. After a villain has his own respective “Serena Williams” moment, said villain’s role in the plot needs to be rapped up. When a villlain loses his composure and falls from grace his whole scheme needs to be rapped the hell up. Seriously, no1 gives a sht anymore so either die or take a back seat, far away, in the plot. This is my issue with MHA, we need to have closure with villains of whatever arc there is, less the show falls into the “team rocket” trap. After you lose your sht like Serena and take a MASSIVE L, you now need to disappear. No matter how great you WERE, as of now your legacy is will only get worse instead of getting better.

You really have no idea what the rest of us are watching because its not what your watching. No offense. Your view is assuming or implying that Shigaraki did what he was mean't to do in the story. That is so obviously wrong that you clearly do not have the same comprehension of the character or the show as most people. Those villains will get wrapped up when their arcs are wrapped up. They are still going through important arcs for the story though. Shigaraki is a child learning, stated many times. He will be wrapped up when he finds some true ground to stand on in regards to being a villain and not before that.

I think the author might be pavementing his way to this theme with Shinso. Many villains with "apparently no reason" to be doing evil, might be just people who got stigmatized by society because of their quirks (SPECIALLY if they're born with a unfriendly appearence). That would be a loaded topic to take in on the firsts seasons, specially while developing characters, but maybe it'll gets it's time during future arcs

Honestly I want that to be Tomura's motivation, like he just wakes up, looks at his fellow villains and realizes that villains normally have a destructive/ violence based quirk or the fact that most villains are well as you said deformed. I think that would be amazing.

It's an interesting point that's been brought up for a long time now. I hope the anime adresses it more indepth at some point. As far as the random villains being monstrous is concerened, that's probably at least in part because of their randomness. We get barely any context so they are made to look "evil" for easy/cheap characterisation for the audience. Of course a great writer would take that and then do something more interesting with it, I'm hopeful that it's still gonna happen. As far as further MHA videos are concerend: Mount Lady redemption arc! :o She's been portrayed as a self-centered bitch and exactly the type of person Stain would never have accepted as a hero. But then in the recent AFO fight, she threw herself in front of the kids to save them. Yeah she likes the attention of being a hero - A LOT - but that doesn't mean she doesn't also want to help people. Humans are complex and multidimensional, it's not always black & white. Really minor moment obviously, but I loved it nonetheless and I at least haven't SEEN anyone talk about it.
