What is Extra Thin Cement made of? Is there an Alternative?

According to the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) Tamiya Extra Thin Cement is 50% Butyl Acetate & 50% Acetone.

I wouldnt use pure acetone, it dries out the plastic, makes it brittle and your model would slowly disintegrate. MEK is a solid performer that won't dry out styrene.

I used my home brew quick drying glue, which worked a treat. Ohhhh MEK!!! Methyl Ethyl Ketone!!! Horrid stuff!!!

In Indonesia, a wood glue solvent can be subtitute for modeling cement. Not sure about the substances. But it melt styrene just like tamiya cement.

I melt sprues in 100% acetone to make liquid green stuff 😁
