Well, despite Starmer being all about PR not so long ago, I doubt we'll hear a peep from him on that topic from now on. Under a PR system, Reform would have won 100 seats last night since they got nearly a fifth of the popular vote. On this measure alone I expect PR to be resisted by every institution going forward.

Great to see you on the video Danny. Very clearly explained. Cleverly, when the government arranged the vote to change from FPTP, it was to AV which nobody wants. PR would bring a more balanced representation in parliament. It might be difficult to agree on actions but we would see more meaningful debates in parliament. I liked the explanation about tactical voting. FTTP means a lot people feel their voice is not heard. I loved all the different locations and it was best when the camera was higher so we don't feel you are talking down to us.

I dont think you need to bring your racism into this, its just an unfair system. He gave an example of 1951 when the result was clearly unfair. Or were the brown people causing all your problems in 1951 too?

Well, you would just have to look at countries with PR. Like Belgium for instance. Their governments are very representative but cant get anything done because of opposition at every turn. A single party government allows things to move quicker if you can believe that, for better or worse. Im still a fan of PR though, better a slower gvt than one not representational.

Im not sure if theres a better way to do it? Representative will create insability no? But i need clarifying.. what could we do instead?
@ifwecouldvote5 ай бұрын
Correct, things go much slower as the government is made of many parties and they all need to agree and compromise on changes and policies. See Belgium for a good example. However this also stops the main party from creating policies and laws that most of its citizens would not support. There are pros and cons.
