What is FNAF: Help Wanted 2 REALLY about?

Help Wanted 2 is probably my favorite Five Nights at Freddy's game, at least, it’s absolutely the most fun I’ve had with a FNAF game to date. But, if you’re like me, you’ve probably hyper fixated on what’s going on with the story, timelines and overall themes of the Five Nights at Freddy series, and with this being its newest entry right now, it’s practically all I was thinking about during my playthrough. So what’s going on with Help Wanted 2?

You could also interpret the "good ending" as steel wool trying to tell us they are moving past glitchtrap and his story and are trying to push the series lore with Vanny, Gregory, Cassie, & the Mimic.

My Guy, your logic is way off base. We've been shown straight up that the princess Quest ending wasn't Canon, the Vanessa was not freed until after security breach, that he is still putting things in place, and has actively masterminded the mimics escape attempt. The mimic, then, was completely absent from the entire game. With constant illusions to William, the murders, and glitch trap. We've gotten confirmation that the mimic is not glitch trap, and we are actively being beaten over the head with the fact that William is still a player in the game. Hell, the entire game might as well have been a massive "hey guys, sorry about the miscommunication, yes he's still here" clarification. Talesgame, and the mimic theory that spawned from it, has been disproven over and over with every new entry. Why are y'all fighting to make the story worse???

In the good ending I don't think Vanessa is intentionally going after Glitchtrap, although it is showing Glitchtraps demise. I think that Vanny represents Vanessa's new mental strength, reusing and recontextualizing the image of her at her weakest. Because the hand rhat gives us the memories of the MCI kids + puppet isn't Vanny's, it's Glitchtrap's. I think that after clearing the final Princess Quest game and being reduced to just the plushie, Glitchtrap tried to return to Vanessa, tried to reconnect and regroup, only to be surprised by how much MORE Vanessa is now that she has her adoptive younger brother and dad in Gregory and Glam Freddy

THIS 100% i'm sad i haven't seen anyone else interpreting it this way?? i always thought that it was vanessa reclaiming what glitchtrap made of her and turning it into a force of good, crushing him to show that he has no power over her anymore... of course it could all just be to show that vanny as a villain is coming back somehow, which i wouldn't really mind bc i love vanny lol, but it's always read to me as BOTH sides of vanessa breaking free from him. especially considering it's moon--who was literally made to be the "villain" in the theater and who is associated with balloon world which MIGHT be GGY's princess quest equivalent--that brings the plush to her... they've both been hurt and made into villains but now they can choose for themselves to be better ,,,

I think both endings are canon, neither being good or bad. The “bad” ending is there to show us where Cassie’s dad is. The “good” ending is there to show us what’s next for the franchise.

My theory, is that in the bad ending, Glitchtrap did his ususall routine of escaping through someones body, while trapping them in the maskbot and controlling them. I think it is Cassies dad in the map bot controlled by glichtrap, with his last memory before getting erased, being seeing his daughter. Just a theory tho.

It's definitely something to look into. I simply interpreted it as Glitchtrap being the one to give the mask to Cassie, but it being Cassie's dad adds a whole new level of heartbreak. It is very interesting that Mapbot's physical appearance when wearing the AR mask is so organic looking.

I still think Vanessa is the protagonist in this game. - The "Remember Jeremy" achievement line refers to an event that only Vanessa knows about, since Vanessa was our protagonist in Help Wanted. - Candy Cadet's story talks about a girl who is decieved by a witch, breaks free of that control, then returns when she is older, only to be tricked again. This could align with Vanessa's actions after she is freed in Security Breach. - We assume that Vanessa has been down under the Pizzaplex between Security Breach and Ruin, helping Gregory contain the Mimic. In this way it makes sense for her to be down there during the events of this game. - The phrase "This looks familiar..." from the Bonnie Mask easter egg may be referring to the similar circumstances under which Vanessa recieved the Vanny mask in Curse of Dreadbear. - Both of the endings deal with Glitchtrap and Vanny, two entities that are closely tied to Vanessa. Even the attacking nightmare STAFF bots could be a reference to Vanessa's fate in the Disassemble Vanny ending. - It is very possible that Vanessa and Vanny have developed into separate personalities that are aware of each other. There is precedent for this in the books. Either Vanny has become an agony monster like B-7, or a second personality wrestling for control of the same body, like the good old Gator in The Monty Within. The Fire Escape ending could even point to this. In either case, I like the idea of the Good Ending showing Vanny outgrowing Glitchtrap and eventually destroying him, becoming a fully independent villain. - The phrase "What makes you so special?" could definitely apply to Vanessa. She is no longer loyal to Glitchtrap, and so Glitchtrap may be looking for ways to replace her. - The protagonist of Help Wanted 2 is never seen wearing or utilizing the Bonnie Mask. From what I understand it doesn't even show up in the hub. I do not think the Bonnie Mask belongs to our protagonist. - The scene with Cassie is somewhat ambiguous. Either Glitchtrap is in charge, giving Cassie the Vanny mask to turn her into the new Vanny, or Vanessa, with the last of her strength, tries to hand forward the only tool powerful enough to defeat Glitchtrap, so that maybe Cassie may succeed where she failed. In my mind, this game's plot is about tying up loose ends and giving us a few key questions. The links between Security Breach and Ruin are complete. Glitchtrap has been accounted for. Vanny may or may not be loose, and this new Bonnie mask is a powerful dangling thread. I believe we will recieve real answers about it in our next entry.

It very well could be! Another thing to add to this is the importance of PQ4 and how the princess physically appears to the player. This could be the princess reaching out to Vanessa, giving her the sword in order to deal with Glitchtrap herself, but Vanny instead finishes him off. Perhaps, we could be playing as two different characters depending on the ending we get, it's definitely strange how interchangeable the two are...

@@lotodots From what we know, the Princess in Princess Quest is believed to be Cassidy. I'm unsure if that is still true, but if it is, it makes sense that the sword was handed to us by the princess, a separate character. I forgot to mention. At the time of security breach Vanessa was mentioned multiple times to be the Pizzaplex's last human employee, obviously by Vanny's design. Honestly I feel like if we were truly Cassie's dad, we would have been given more clues, like why Cassie's dad was here in the first place. I feel like there's a bunch of mental gymnastics that go into Cassie's dad being the protagonist. From the sticky note in Ruin, we know he left abruptly, a long enough time ago that the All Staff Meeting AND Security Breach AND the earthquake (if Ruined Music Man is anything to go by) has occured, and has somehow arrived under the pizzaplex (so far with zero motive) and hooked himself into the VANNI system. Sure he knows all the ins and outs of the Fazbear Technicians kit, but at this point Vanessa would too. We have never seen any previous evidence of Cassie's dad being down here. He never ran into Vanessa or Gregory from what we know. Candy Cadet's story doesn't seem to be about him. None of the endings directly involve him. I have nothing against Cassie's Dad being a protagonist. With the introduction of that bonnie mask in the good ending, hell, I expect it. But at this point I don't think he has been built up enough, and people are jumping the gun.

@@hsuehejjw1731 The Bonnie Mask thing isn't an ending tho. It's an Easter egg IN the princess quest ending. We see it. We pick it up. We move on. In Curse of Dreadbear we can actually pick up and interact with the mask after the minigame we find it in. It appears in the hub. We learned about Vanny for the first time BECAUSE she wore the mask. The HW2 Bonnie Mask could easily belong to someone other than the HW2 Protagonist.

I believe that we are playing as Cassie's dad. The strongest evidence is the fazwrench. Neither Vanny nor Gregory has EVER used one and both ain't technicians. But the game constantly calls us a technician and knows we have kids. Vanessa hates kids and doesn't have one - and Gregory and Cassie are too young for kids, Helpi ain't real. Thus, the only candidate left here is Cassie's dad.

I guess that there could be 2 Vanessas or Vannys to explain why she's here. It's a theory that came from the "Fire Escape" ending in Security Breach. Not many people like it but I don't mind it. I just wish that, like pretty much everything about Security Breach, it got the time to be properly developed if it's true. I'm in 100% with the bad ending being canon and that the player is Cassie's Dad. I also think he was the Bonnie Masked Bully from FNAF 4. And that was the reason he was specifically chosen for the job (most likely by Glitchtrap). He gets his consciousness swapped into the Mask Bot and unwillingly gives his daughter the V.A.N.N.I. Mask, getting her involved in this mess. All of this being revenge for what he did as a teenager in 1983.

I think VANNY is a digital consciousness that is like the Storyteller now, and they consumed Glitchtrap to be the head of the Virtual Mimic as Programming. It would explain the Brazil Ending. Vanny, GGY, and "Helpi" giving Cassie a party in a Virtual Delusion. The Storyteller is all those "People" as a construct. And to get it you must put the VANNI mask on to basically hide inside your own Head. And I think in that Ending, you become a "Vanny".

the glitchtrap helping mimic escape theory makes alot of sense, glitchtrap uses the player (us) so that the mask bot can work, and then when cassie gets the mask, it leads to mimic's escape

Why can't both endings be canon in this situation? We know from Help Wanted 1 that through VR technology Glitchtrap can affect/infect physical living humans. What if the "bad" ending is showing the physical body of Cassie's Dad being killed by staff bots, leaving some trace/memory/ghost of himself trapped in the Pizzaplex's system? He sees the altered map bot hand Cassie the mask, because he inhabits that bot in that moment as it hands it to her. All of the hard mini games look like you could be seeing through the eyes of staff bots; preparing food and such. Perhaps the whole reason Vanny needed all the human employees dead is so that no one (no humans) would be in the network anymore besides her; allowing her to take complete control of the staff bots without any other Fazbear Entertainment technicians interrupting her? The way I see it the "mask on" levels are all running on script in solid-state "offline" mode of the VR space, while the "mask off" levels are happening in the "live" network; you are fixing Roxy's face in real-time; you are feeding Chica in real time. Cassie's Dad went back to the Pizzaplex after it was shut down, with his tools, to figure out what happened; he plugs into the network down in the Pizza Place to try to figure out why someone had dug a hole down to the deeper layers without permission; he wants to figure out what went "wrong", why (from his perspective) did the Pizzaplex shut down as usual one night and then the next morning it was destroyed and dozens of employees were found dead without explanation. Think of how shocking that would have been to see on the news; your place of work is just WRECKED overnight and everyone you've seen there/worked along side is just DEAD via the... the what? As a tech who has access to most of everything, perhaps he'd feel a moral obligation to break in and investigate sometime after the cops finally remove the crime scene tape and the place is locked up. The good ending to me is Cassie's Dad trying to find a way out, after he's already been killed in the real world; he doesn't understand that there is no where for him to "go". He beats Princess Quest, he finds the encased version of Glitchtrap (Remember! The plush is Glitchtrap tied up and disabled!) and gives it to Vanny. Vanny destroys it and abandons Cassie's Dad in the machine, because he's just there now; he can't go anywhere, he can't effectively do anymore for himself or for Vanny so she leaves him in the VR space.

Yes yes yes Y E S . I totally agree with all of your conclusions. With the release of the Mimic and Cassie using the V.A.N.N.I. mask so much, I was already thinking that Glitchtrap was also the Mimic and Cassie could end up being the next Vanny or Glitchtrap follower. I think the good ending might be representing what happens in the canon ending of Security Breach, with completely the PQ arcade games ridding Vanny/Vanessa of Glitchtrap's influence. Great video!

I’m hoping the ending with Vanny crushing Glitchtrap is a symbolic way of the series telling us we’re moving away from Afton and the old story since it was completed a long time ago and now the series will be telling a new narrative with new characters and a new villain, that being Vanny.

I know a lot of us are divided on the story, and have one idea and another person has a seperate idea on what’s going on, but what’s fun and the pros about that is , we can think Glitchtrap is Mimic or Afton with both theories showing evidence. Like the digital mind of Afton or the Mimicking of Mimic trying to be him is both valid and solid points in my opinion. Lots of people get mad at eachother and start bickering about certain points in the newer lore, but we should all come together and happily spread our theories throughout the community without being just rude. I’ve came across so many fans who just shout and scream at you for thinking one thing, even if there’s evidence to back it up. I personally believe Afton has some association with the PizzaPlex and the mind control of Vanessa, just that’s just a theory. (A game theoryy , sorry) But anyways random but just wanted to say that

nice interpretation ! Since i believe glitchtrap is a mere extension of the mimic (like hyperdroid mentionned, with the therapists saying the system is creating various branches), I think that since the mimic is free as we see in ruin, they won't really be needing him so i'm pretty sure whether he canonically succeeds in infecting cassie's father or gets killed by vanny, it won't matter as in the end, the mimic can create as many glitchtraps as they want as long as they know how to mimic afton. So i'm pretty sure glitchtrap won't be important in the future.

Jeremy is a name that has been used 3 times in the games canon. - Jeremy Fitzgerald, the supposed victim of the Bite of 87 in Fnaf2. - Jeremy, the beta tester who sliced his own face off to escape Glitchtrap in Help Wanted. The phrase "Remember Jeremy" in Help Wanted comes from him. - Jeremy, one of the confirmed names of the Missing Children's Incident kids. The name appeared on the gravestones in Fnaf6, along with Gabriel, Susie and Fritz. The name is assumed to be Bonnie's spirit.

People are calling the Hub World the Fnaf 6 location, but they are two different buildings altogether, the Hub World has no back alley area, which is probably why there is no end night salvage minigames seen in Help Wanted 2, cuz there is only destroyed pieces of building, rubble, a destroyed giant Freddy head, and destroyed roaming security bots, but in SB, there was never a back alley shown on this pizzeria, next, in Fnaf 6, the pizzeria was filled with little play areas all round, whereas, the Hub World for Help Wanted 2 is filled with metal doors where areas like chica’s kitchen should be, where the Fnaf 6 arcade & prize corner play area should have been, and metal doors going where behind the stage, into parts & service & The Fnaf 6 office should be, not to mention that the Fnaf 6 pizzeria had a different look outside, it had the same name, but a different building banner and an actual car park, and a Rockstar Freddy motionless animatronic standing on a wooden display area, and in The Help Wanted 2 Hub World, there is No mediocre melodies stage, Further Confirming that the Fnaf 6 location & The Fnaf 6 location built under the Pizzaplex are two different Places.

So I don’t think that the “”good ending”” has been found/may not be in the game yet, I mean we didn’t get all the endings to help wanted 1 till the dread bear DLC came out so I stands to reason that HW2 is going to act the same way. Maybe we will get a new ending be it good, bad or worse.

4:45 so this idea is a misleading one, I’m guessing that your going to point to Roxys mask as proof of it been before Ruin but while I think it probably is happening before or alongside Ruin Roxy getting that mask dosnt mean it is before Ruin only that that game was made before or alongside Ruin. So to explain my point I right now go and play the first assassins creed game, that dosnt mean I’m in the 11th to 13th centuries I’m just playing a game set at that time but to further expand on that idea now for me is a little after 10am on the 28th of Dec 2023, if someone reads this post in a months time I said I go right now and play Blah blah blah it’s not me in jan 2024 saying it they are reading about me doing something in the past, I think that explain’s what I mean about the mask been misleading. As for why I think it’s happening before or alongside Ruin is what you called the bad ending (which is so much worse if we do turn out to be her dad) that ending is one of the outcomes of the plays time in HW2 which means it has to happen before Cassie gets into the Pizza Plex and it’s not in a situation where it could be a video of past events (I would need to rewatch a play though to double check my facts to be sure).

The William Hate has really overwhelmed modern theorizing. We've gotten multiple instances of them separating Glitchtrap and the Mimic, we've had plenty of instances of the game showing Glitchtrap continuing to scheme, and they've clarified over and over that princess quest wasn't the canon ending, hell that's the entire point of the good ending.
