What is Frankish?: Frankish and Franconian

Hey, im am a Flemish Belgian and so i read things in Dutch and i never came across "Franconian" anywhere, untill i started to read in English.. So i think this is maybe an English word.We always say "Frankisch" but i did see your previous video, about "old Dutch" and "old Frankish" and i can attest to the fact that even in Flanders we say "old Dutch". Because the people here and in the Netherlands have no reason to divide ourselves, but sadly its not even common knowledge what "Nederlands" (Dutch) actually really is. And even better, most Flemish people dont even know there is "Neder Fries" and "Neder Saksisch" XD Thats why people refer to "old Dutch" when its about the middle ages and prior to that.. :)

Born and raised in Oberfranken (Upper Franconia) I am very impressed by your correct pronunciation of "fränkisch" with the rolling R. Btw, speaking with Franken (Franconians) in Franken (Franconia) be careful to not call them Bayern (Bavarians) :-) You might be taught a lesson or two ;-) although Franconia geographically is officially a part of Bavaria today.

They are definetly Bayern, but they do not speak Bairisch and therefore aren't Baiern. The English language sadly doesn't have a differenciation for this.

Love our channel been bing watching it for years, and that vidoe would fit in perfectly with your other vidoes about the line between Germanic an Romance languag lines in Wetsern Europe. People need to know I think that there is an acadamic different between the peopele know as the franks (wich came before) and the French fom 800s onwards, Kearning Old Germanic. could you therefore please make a video about how the merovingians where west germanic and the fisrtt king of france where around the 800s after the carlinina dynasty. The langauge of the upper classes whas Old-Franconian an language witch its modern succesor being Dutch. Or at least mak an Reaction video on this topic. We can see it in their names Chlodovech (louis, ludwig and lodewijk) beging all upper class names of Western-Germanic origin. Nations states didnt exist until the 1640s ofcourse by the treay of whetshtphalia but the franks/frankish where cultury and lingusiticly Frankish (Western-germanic). I believe I have already said this one of yout channels. If I do i beg your pardon.

Linguist Professor Dr Renate determined there's 37 Frankish Dialects then wrote a book titled. Michigan German in Frankenmuth: Variation and Change in an East Franconian Dialect.
