i have problem. whenever i psint in my canvas the texture... is not that fulfulling, my type of cloth used is like crosstich,it has many pockets of very small holes so whenever i paint some of those pockets are not painted, thus creating a white pixel spot. so i discovered this gesso thing... unfortunately my mother is not allowing me to buy it because im too money spending... so im gonna use white paint to cover those holes... is this possible? will my canvas become better? will the acrylic paint absorb those colors and not blend in?

you can use the ones you get at your hardware store but just make sure it is the finest you can find. When sanding don't push too hard. just lightly sand. apply another coat and lightly sand again. the last coat may not even need sanding. :D Hope this helps.

I wouldn't recommend it. The properties that make up paint are vastly different then what goes into gesso. Paint, like oils, are just pigment and oils. :D

If you do fine detail work you should apply 2-3 coats of gesso. The first coat will dry in about 5-10 mins, second and third coats will take about 15-20mins. Then allow 24 hours minimum drying time before painting on it. :D Hope this helps you! :D

Hello, I have never used a homemade gesso. Home made gesso may not contain the correct ingredients. So you should buy reputed company gesso from market. It can be tension free. You can rest assured about the long lasting power of the color pigment in the canvas.

If you buy good company canvas from market or online then they are primed. In this case, there is no chance of the canvas being non primed. The canvas looking more white and thick.

One suggestion, buy comapny canvases and again apply 2 coat gesso on it and start painting. It guarantees durability of 20-40 years of your canvas. Don't try all these in home as there are lots of process to make a canvas with such durability.

Absolutely. If you have all the right ingredients and know the right amount that goes in. Also if you have a high power mixer to make sure there are no clumps then yes. There will be no reason to buy it at the store.
