I like how you have started from a big picture using maps/visuals to introduce the subject. Then you got down to the details. Finally you've summarized git/github in a simplistic visual diagram. Meanwhile you have listened to questions and made sure they were completely answered. I wish my college professors did half of what you do. Thank you so much for teaching us so effectively.

It also handles local branching and merging (not sure about rebasing). But really good to get an understanding of of what's happening behind the scene. Top teacher!

It seems making changes is something that happens frequently and all day long in a development office. Is it standard practice to stop your work after every line you edit, add the change, make the commit and then push it up? That would be terrible because I would be spending half my day pushing commits and making notations as to what changes I've made. On the other hand, I could just sit there and take notes as to what changes I've made and push them all at the end but then what if I forget some of the changes I've made? I must be missing something.
@edurekaIN
@edurekaIN 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Geoff, ofcourse not. You don't commit after every single change. You can commit and push only when you think the code you are working on is ready from your end. And you don't need to take notes of the changes, you can view them by using "git log" Hope this helps :)

Usually, a push results out of resolving an 'issue'. So, when your code resolves a particular issue, you are supposed to push it.
@parikshit804

On Github, its a standard practice to first raise an issue for the task that you will be undertaking to notify everyone else of the same and then start work.

Thanks a lot, Edureka for making this video freely available. Ms. Reshma has a wonderful voice and accent, making it really easy for non-native English speakers to follow all topics perfectly. Kudos to her for explaining almost all concepts along with commands in such breadth and length, just amazed at how much hard work she may have done before presenting. I was searching for a video on Git/Github, seeing the length of this video, was about to skip it, then it started playing and I didn't realize the time spent till it finished.
