Here are the quotations read:
Voegelin, "Science, Politics and Gnosticism," quoting St Irenaeus, page 9:
Perfect salvation consists in the cognition, as such, of the Ineffable Greatness. For since sin and affliction resulted from ignorance (agnoia), this whole system originating in ignorance is dissolved through knowledge (gnosis). Hence, gnosis is the salvation of the inner man.... Gnosis redeems the inner, pneumatic man; he finds his satisfaction in the knowledge of the Whole. And this is the true salvation
Burfeind, "Gnostic America," page 6:
What is Gnosticism? The Gnosticism 101 answer is, it was an ancient movement centered on esoteric knowledge. It held to a dualistic understanding of the cosmos, in which an evil, lesser god created all things material, and only those who had attained gnosis (knowledge) about their true Source (the higher deity) understood the bodiless Self-ness of their existence. Its salvation program was one of escape, escape of Self from materiality and this oppressive world order.

hello pastor Wolfmueller, how are you? I'm a Lutheran viewer from Brazil. I am in the preparatory year to enter the ministry and become a pastor of the IELB, a sister church of the LCMS in the United States. Your videos, along with those of other theologians, both Brazilian and foreign, plus the birth of my daughter have shown me that this is my vocation and have made this internal maturing possible. Theology aside, I have always found your recording style very clean and pleasing to the eye. Can you tell me which camera you use for your recordings? God bless you 😊

Hey , pastor love your work. I have a question that has been troubling me lately. In lutheran theology, you explained , that to be saved is a mystery (since you can't reconcile the three doctrinal truths found in the bible: universal grace - unconditional election- hell) to some people that sounds like a contradiction. Doesn't this line of thinking lead to a slippery slope ? As in when one cannot defend two seemingly opposing doctrines in scripture can just appeal to mystery ? Can't catholics use the same reasoning as lutherans when defending their doctrine? Can't Muslims (when you point out contradictions in the Qur'an)? I guess my question is where do we draw the line when appealing to mystery ? Anyone reading this , please like this comment so that it is more visible to the pastor. Much appreciated.

The appeal to mystery in Lutheran theology is valid only when Scripture clearly teaches two truths that seem irreconcilable (e.g., universal grace and unconditional election), but it cannot be used to defend doctrines without biblical grounding (e.g., purgatory) or to justify outright contradictions. It respects the integrity of God’s Word, preserving the tension revealed in Scripture without compromising its truth. Additionally, it refrains from speculative reasoning, remaining within the boundaries of what God has chosen to reveal, acknowledging the limits of human understanding before divine wisdom.

@Joe-hu7lx Ok so is there a difference between "two truths that seem to be irreconcilable" and "outright contradictions"? How to differentiate between them? Some examples would be helpful

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Interestingly, it seems that the gnostics were the first ones who denounced sacramental efficacy because they found the idea of the body and blood of Christ being in the elements as being contrary to gnostic thought.

Eastern Orthodoxy is trapped in this matter/spirit dualism. If you ask an EO believer what is our hope after death, they answer ''eternal life for the soul'' and not ''resurrection of the bodies''. Protestants also do the same error because of their ''gnostic'' education.

Because of a truncated definition you saw in a KZbin video? I would like to see a much longer and properly nuanced debate on the topic, it's far too easy to misrepresent otherwise.
