What is going on? These bees are acting up, something has got them stirred up and pissed off.

Sounds like a hot hive, maybe queenless. Suit up, open her, check for eggs/larva. If so , find the queen, kill her and scrape all the drone comb out (Drones carry the gentile or hot gene). Take a frame of eggs from ANOTHER hive and let them try and requeen. If queenless do the same. Kenny if you are wondering if a hive is being robbed, heavy dust the bees at the entrance with powdered sugar and look to see if any of those bees turn up at another hive.
