Nietzsche isn't fascist. His writings were taken by his sister (who was a fascist) after his death and were heavily edited so she could use them to justify her horrible fascist ideology. Nietzsche hated anti semites, he disliked nationalism, and while he thought that there was no objective meaning to life, he still believed in creating your own meaning which isn't Nihilism, but rather Absurdism in the style of Albert Camus.

I'd say his ass is definitely fascist. People like to clean him up but I genuinely don't know why. Other than his doubting of Christianity he had 0 profound ideas and a lot of his ponderings on history was just dead wrong.

I would say he was more existentialist than absurdist. Specifically, his concept of overman is a constant surpassing of the self which would serve as meaning and a goal for the human species as a whole. This meaning would be constructed - that's the existentialist aspect.

Einstein was quite explicit about his support for socialism, yet I’ve frequently heard right-wingers claim (as with Peterson’s tweet here) that Einstein was somehow anti-socialist-never with any evidence for that claim, of course. They’re always confused when I point them to Einsten’s essay “Why Socialism?” I don’t think they bother to read it.

He is right though. A Libertarian socialist is as socialist as a national socialist. And being an intelectual that is a socialist is not the same as being a socialist intellectual (as someone who theorizes about Socialism and its applications). A ton of intellectuals were socialists. its the same with Orwell. He wasn't shy about being a socialist. He literally said: "The Spanish war and other events in 1936-37 turned the scale and thereafter I knew where I stood. Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it." Those works would include the likes of Animal Farm and 1984 that they either read and misunderstood, didn't read or they read it, understood but kept quiet about it. Although Orwell did in fact say the left wing version of what Jordan said here when he stated that there was no such thing as a right-wing intellectual: "It should be noted that there is now no intelligentsia that is not in some sense “Left”. Perhaps the last right-wing intellectual was TE Lawrence."

Marx cointed the term capitalism as a slur. Against any society that would make its only practically meaningful value capital. That can never go well, for either the society, or individual human nature. Adam Smith didn't name it. When the income tax was first introduced in the US, it wasn't much, & was *only* for the wealthiest.

He's only an intellectual at all by the narrowest of definitions; he does make his living apparently, by sharing his "thinking". But since he bloviates constantly on things he's not just ignorant, but stupid about and often is actually spreading outright disinformation, I think the words mercenary right wing propagandist are a far more accurate title than the misleading title of public intellectual. Intellectual is a term that implies a professional level of quality to one's discourse, and that's laughably missing.

But democratic socialism has nothing to do with socialism. The welfare State feeds from the market in the capitalist sense. There is no democratic socialist party in Europe that has ANY interest in socialism, because it is incompatible with democracy. He continues to have a PsyD (not a PhD), I believe, idk if colleges can strip those from their clients/customers. The PsyD degree is for clinal psychologists and professors of clinical psychology but he no longer has a practice license or interest to practice clinical psychology legally. here are some quotes from his colleague from university of toronto who backed jordan peterson up for his tenure: "I was Jordan Peterson’s strongest supporter. Now I think he’s dangerous." "I am alarmed by his now-questionable relationship to truth, intellectual integrity and common decency, which I had not seen before. His output is voluminous and filled with oversimplifications which obscure or misrepresent complex matters in the service of a message which is difficult to pin down. He can be very persuasive, and toys with facts and with people’s emotions." "[In class,] Jordan presented conjecture as statement of fact. I expressed my concern to him about this a number of times, and each time Jordan agreed. He acknowledged the danger of such practices, but then continued to do it again and again, as if he could not control himself. He was a preacher more than a teacher." I think it's safe to say that other psychologist don't want anything to do with him.
